Stolen Busa Recovered... Need some advice?

The bike was bought in cash and a policy with geico for full coverage was paid for a year also when the bike got stolen they came back with theft wasnt in the policy and the bike was not at insured addressed long story short we fought it and they won terminated the policy and refunded premiums.

that's the biggest helping of bs i ever heard. You got f^kd on that deal man:banghead:

I thought I remembered your story...You lost a 600 as well as the busa. Interesting that the thief didn't change anything on the busa like pipes...did u ever recover the 600?

Wow! Not much left for salvage on that one.

If the engine didn't get tweaked, the way the rest of the bike did, you could make some cash selling or parting it out.
That in itself could prove to be a hassel when faced with questions from potential buyers such as "how many miles are on it?"

That busa is trashed, i wouldn't bother selling it for cash, i bet that dead man got quite the rash, he must have been going soo fast, two years past, that 08 sure didn't last, I bet that thief was having a blast until he lost control and died, went to hell, burn and fried.

I hate thieves:devil:

U trying to rhyme, or is that a major coincidence?

And OP: I would look at it like a good thing that you finally got the bike back... Now you can recoup a couple g's at least... plus if you sue the estate, you may be able to get much, much more... Time for another! But this time, go for the disc lock, heavy duty chain and lock, and scorpio alarm with fm key fob to alert you next time someone tries to steal it so you can come "educate" the next thief...

im tellin ya, someone has gotta build a tazer gun for the bike. have the leads in the grips and when he sits down use the weight of the seat as the ground connect:rofl: that'll fry em up good:thumbsup:

Wow, sorry to hear that, I cant believe that the insurance play you like that and got away with it, thats why we got insurance for, a premium policy that doesn't cover theft?
Something is wrong...

Well we totally got screwed on the insurance so long story short they didnt pay but yes we had a policy so for the past 2 years I have been holding a $12000 dollar piece of paper (title). It was stolen from in front of the apartments we were staying at one night while our house was being re-built after a house fire and yes the bike was locked and chained down at the time it was stolen. Basically I have to make a decision by 2marrow to pay the $300 storage and wrecker bill and decide what to do with the bike or simply walk away... And I cant seem to reach a clear decision on what to do?

Abandoning it and not paying the charges is a no no in this state. Towing companies put a lien on the registration so you can't register another vehicle after the allowed storage time has passed. Unpaid charges go to collection and credit report. Guy passes on and is still sticking it to you, if your lucky he has a home to go after.

Dead man on a bike.. bad mojo.. get ride of it and let it be totaled out and hope no one ever sits on it from some parts dealer...

Sue the estate of the dade man, but if he was stealing bikes or buying hot bikes, he probably doesn't have much to sue. Hope you have insurance on it... get another bike!

+1 Something don't sound right here. So have you been making payments on a bike that was stolen and haven't ridden in 2yrs???

What else would you do when the bank wants their money and insurance is saying no?

I agree with parting it out, sorry for your situation.

I have that ins. going to give them a call today to see if I would be covered. If not going to get new ins. I pay close to a grand a year full covered

That is very strange that Geico did not pay. I had a bike that I totalled, Geico paid for it, I bought it back and sold to a friend who rebuilt it. Bike got stolen on a trailer in Oklahoma at a hotel. Geico paid again. You need a lawyer.

stole it right off your trailer huh? wow, thieves really have sum balls.. i'd rather work for it and rightfully call it my own:thumbsup:

pay the $300 and put it in the lobby of your insurance agents office. with a sign saying "this type of damage is no covered" LOL

Yea thats right and they have not recovered the 600 yet but they are re-opening the case now. They had no idea who the bike belonged to or that another was stolen at the same time it was. We had a friend that just happen to here it on the news and call us thinking it could be our bike so i started looking into it and it was. So I took the original police report and titles to the police station cause they didnt show a record of the report anymore.

I think we have decided to go get the bike and sell it as a whole the way it is and someone can use it for parts or whatever they want to. (anyone interested pm me)At least that way maybe we can get a small portion of the 12 grand we lost back. And we are for sure going to see a lawyer today about suing.

Geico couldnt just say, nah we aren't paying, insurance policies are very specific. They obviously have legal backing to their refusal to pay as if they didn't any lawyer would gladly take them on for a % of what they could get from them. It sucks that the OP had to go through this, but I would not be bashing Geico for this, I don't see where they did anything wrong.
