Substitute Engine Oil

Well, odd man out here, but I've used the Pro Honda HP4 without Moly full synthetic for years and years. I buy it over the internet by the case

Case of oil, case of filters. I'll likely switch to Mobil-1 shortly when I get the new bike though. But I haven't had problem 1 with the Honda oil.

(McyMike @ Jul. 30 2007,12:46) Make sure it is Mobile 1 for motorcycle NOT cars. There is a difference in the slickness (car oil is not good for motorcycle clutches).
As long as there are no "Friction Modifiers" the car oil works GREAT...4 different bikes...2 Busa's
and 2 CBR 1000RR's...over the last 3 1/2 years. Approximately 60K miles on and off the
track with ZERO issues

I have 21k miles on my 06 and have used mx4t mobile one since break in. No problems that i am aware of. of course.... Its easier for me to get then amsoil so i use it. Good choice for me

Since we are on the oil subject, anyone running Mobil 1 or Amsoil 0W40 in their bikes. It seems to be easier to find 0W40 in full synth than 10W40. I've been concerned that it is too thin cold.

(omslaw @ Jul. 25 2007,13:52) I've been running Mobil 1 full synth: MX4T or Racing 4T  since I've had 1,000 miles on my Busa.  No probs here.
Thats what I use too. Makes a big difference in the shifting.

With the benefit of 20+ years as a professional wrench....

Mobil1 synthetic is great stuff BUT.....
and this is a big but...

make sure you get the "Motorcycle" blend. It has a special friction modifier package for wet clutches. The regular will work but the bike blend will make your clutch work better and last longer. (I do know of clutch failures running automotive synthetic)
