Tesla Plaid vs ZX14

How many miles per day do you drive?
I'm retired so I'm not a good person to be compared....

However, I am not from where I live so if I drive home to see my family it is a 7 hr drive or so...how many times would I be sitting at a charging station along the way..I can refuel my truck in what 10 mins max...

Add in very cold weather, snow and ice, hills and wind and their range will drop like a stone I'll bet. Or even a hot summer day when the air conditioner is needed then add in the hills and wind...

Do these battery packs lose power from the extreme (-30'c) temps we often see around here. If my wife were to drive one to work and have it sit outside for 9 hrs, would it lose power?

Most people lack the understanding of an EV, here is an example. If you have a Tri motor Cybertruck that has a 500 mile range you would only have to stop once to charge that would take about 20 minutes. Battery packs no longer lose a lot of range due to heat pumps that are used. Hills, wind, ice and snow also effect Internal combustion engines also. Even with a 400 to 300 mile range you will only stop once. Most EVs can idle for up to 3 days for running out of power with the A/C or Heat on.

All I can go on is what I read or see as I have no real world knowledge of these platforms.

Technology and infrastructure will have to be vastly improved for these to be feasible in my opinion. Our government in Canada is pushing the EV platform hard but I have yet to see a cent spent on electrical grid improvements-those will have to be started soon and they won't be an inexpensive venture as most of the current power grids are at their limit right now.

I have a Tesla Model S, I have a Model S Plaid and Cyber Truck on order
Education on these platforms from a real time owner would be beneficial to all us who are uninitiated in EV platforms.

I see you are located in Florida-I'd be interested in how these things stand up to the cold weather we get when the roads are often unplowed with sometimes a foot of slushy, wet, heavy snow covering them...

I also wonder how sealed the motors and battery pack and connectors are and how they stand up to all the salt they use on the roads around here....they started using a brine solution which gets into every nook and cranny of vehicles...it's brutal.....

I personally think an EV bike would serve me very well for the short distances I ride but I'm not giving up my bike for anything or anyone...

Stay away from the media on EV information. They dont understand the tech and promote a lot of FUD. I would suggest subscribing to Bjørn Nyland Youtube channel. He is in Norway and does all types of testing from winter tires to winter range testing on multiple EVs. The motors, battery pack and connectors are sealed. The majority of suspension components are aluminum. Most Teslas are all wheel drive and do just fine in the snow.

I'll check it out......

There is quite a bit of bad press out there on EV so far....many of the moto journalists are interested and there are more and more coverage on them.

That is because the oil industry and legacy auto makers are fighting EV sales.
...and people like me....I'll admit, I'm not real interested in EV tech, I like my V-8s.....I don't even care that EV will out perform my ICE vehicles...to me, they have no soul much like many of the modern ICE vehicles...

When I see something like a '70 Hemi 'Cuda or Superbee or Mach 1 or a Camaro RS SS, I get excited....when I see pretty much any modern vehicle ICE or EV, they just don't do it for me....they are OK but not pulse pounding like the old stuff.....Even my Hemi Ram is ok...it has no soul either.

Kind of how I feel about some of the ultra modern motorcycles, they have no soul either....but that's just me.

Once people like me are out of the driving game, then I think EV will take off with the younger generations.

There is nothing like the sound of a roller cammed big block. I consider the Ford 427 SOHC motor to be the pinnacle of V8 motors. I have had my muscle cars and drag bikes in the past. I still design and sell nitrous kits for bikes but there is a transition going on and it is for the better. I have not purchased gas, oil, spark plugs, oil filters in 7 years. I also haven't paid an electric bill in that same time period since I have solar panels. I am grand fathered in so I dont pay to charge my car at the Tesla superchargers so I travel for free. I book hotels that have charging stations for their guest.

I've seen the benefits of EV tech, we had fully autonomous support vehicles which carried all our heavy stuff and would meet us at pre-designated positions...these vehicles had a bit of AI as well and would monitor their own charge, they were equipped with solar panels and would deploy them on their own and position them in order to garner maximum sunlight and would shut down at night or low light conditions if they needed to be charged. They would send us a message telling us their location and the reason they weren't at a pre-designated location...but generally they'd drain their batteries before not reaching a pre-designated position.

They also had regenerative brakes and downhill systems. One of the techs that worked on them said they could go for a long, long time with zero input or recharging in the right conditions...

Max Wrist can't beat it so that's gospel right there....

There's a part in there where Max says he can ride...I laughed to myself...

Im waiting to watch a memorial on maxwrist some time soon. I can imagine he makes it through the entire next year without killing himself or worse yet someone else

You're subtely getting sucked in...you don't even realize it...but you're slowly becoming a closet Max Wrist fan....
:poke:
For some reason when I open up You Tube, I see the newest posted videos and as he post them like a mad man, I see them first.....

What's that phrase he uses...? "killing the game" Killing bikes is more like it....
