I've just watched a documentary regarding wild fires and how they create their own weather system.......and how unstoppable they have become.
This documentary included the wild fire in Paradise California and Fort McMurray here in Canada......
Experienced fire fighters identified fire tornadoes which were impossible to fight against......a tornado in itself is scary then add fire....
One person they interviewed had a large parcel of land and in conjunction with the US forestry service was proactive in making his surrounding forest cleared up of any fallen debris and undergrowth which should have mitigated fire risks......he said the fire swept down on them so fast they barely got out with their lives and drove through burning embers for miles trying to outpace the fire.....
Another interview was with a lady who went into labor while the fire was sweeping towards their home and the paramedics picked her up and gave her labor retarding drugs to stave off her labor.....she went to a hospital 15 miles away and as they were pulling in, the hospital and town was being evacuated......she eventually got to safety and had her baby which she named after the paramedic that stayed with her throughout....
Of course both people interviewed lost absolutely all of their material goods minus the vehicles they drove away in...in the lady's case, her husband was on his way when the ambulance was taking her away so he followed in his pick up truck....
The interviews from Fort McMurray were staggering.....the Canadian Forestry Service had already done back burning, forest clearing in the spring and had made fire breaks......the intensity of the fires jumped all of that and took the entire town out....
Scary...........
