The idea of a Vegas Ride

I just posted on SinCitysportbikes that we're planning on coming up for the weekend of the 21st. They're planning a trip around Lake Mead on Sunday the 22nd. I'm Not making plans for us, just looking for a few ideas. Last year's Death Valley trip was excellent!
There were a few of us there.

How many days are we planning??  I've some extra vacation days to use, but need to know so I can ask for them off.  Is it just Sat/Sun, or are we planning for a longer trip??
I took the whole week for vacation.  I would like to get up there on Thursday night and come back on Monday.
The 19th thru the 22nd looks good for me. The 23rd is iffy, I have to find someone to cover for me or be back at 1:15pm. Either way I'm in.

What's the deal for lodging. I'm looking for cheap cheap cheap

I posted on SinCitySportbikes and they said they would like to meet up with us too.

Any Ideas on where we want to ride or what to do? They have a Lake Mead ride planned on Sunday. Death Valley was cool last time.

We will eventually need an itinerary. (ooh big word for me)

This will be 1st Vegas ride, I don't know where to ride, but twisties are on request

And I'll be able to get off Monday also for sure!!

Right now, none of the strip hotels are gonna be anywhere near cheap...it's convention season. Sahara is about the cheapest on the strip, and they have rates in the $45-$50 range for Sunday and Monday nights, but the other days are in the $100 range. Mandalay Bay has the beach/pool and a spa that ROCKS, but their rates are in the $300 range and they are booked for sat/sun nights. This is probably the worst time for cheap hotel rates guys. Maybe try some of the hotels that are not on the strip.

Who was the rider that lives in Parhump??? That would prob be a great place to Lodge, just don't post the place you guys select. Pm it to everyone that is a def. That way noone who likes those two wheel discounts (:3:)can have their way with the bikes. Some of yous guys can split the cost of a room and it would not be too bad.

I have to see if I can get out of work that weekend. If so, I will def join you guys, hopefully on my not functioning correctly Bus (starter Gear probs).

Sounds like alot of fun. I am a Officer at SincitySportBikes.com, and they can def point us in the right Direction for some great riding. It is going to be very hot, I am not sure if Death Valley is going to be bearable.

I live here in Pahrump. Anyone who wants can crash at my house. It's a good ride to Vegas. I took a road, route 159 I think that was really cool. Very nice scenery and turn offs to get pics and such. I have a couch, floor space and could arrange a good bar-b-que. PM me with whatever you guys want me to do for the trip. I'm new down here so I don't know the roads to ride yet. Yet to do death valley, roads were flooded the day we went. Lake Mead would be a cool trip. Give me a shout!!!

I posted on SinCity and they're doing a Lake Mead ride on that Sunday. We could hook up with them and they know the roads. Some good twisties for ya Charles. (just a suggestion) It doesn't matter to me how hot it gets.

so far: Saturday - possible track day, Sunday - Lake Mead...and what might be a lot of Busas

I might be heading out Thursday afternoon and coming back Monday or Tuesday. Anymore time around the Vegas strip and I start getting shaky .

I'm having second thoughts about the track day, there'll be a lot of people who won't want to go, and it's $190, eeyah. Might be better to find a ride with all the bikes.

I'm with you on the track day. My bike will be pretty new; I'm not sure that I want to throw her around a track just yet...

(pulling out Delorme atlas)

There's some roads up through the Humboldt-Toiyabe Nat'l Forest going up into the mountains (out of the heat), but there seems to be one loop up - not a lot of turnoff and alternate routes.

or: Zion / Utah - some nice routes + possibly some twisties up there.

All we need now is a time and a place to meet in Vegas, and a place to go to.

I was looking through the Nevada maps at home about a week ago and there were some rides to the northwest that went around the mountains, back down through Pahrump and looped back to Vegas.  I've never ridden up there before so I can't vouch for the fun factor etc. (It may just be blasting through empty desert roads, but I'm not sure.) It was roughly a 260 mile RT.

Any recommendations from our friends in Nevada?

As of now, I'm looking to drive out Thursday afternoon and back to LA on Monday.

I just posted on Sin City Sportbikes again, a new topic and asked if they had any ideas for Fri and Sat. I figure we could go with them on the Lake Mead run on Sun. (we can change that if you guys want to)
I'd like to get up there on Thu too if you want to run up there together. We'll have to see if Charles or anyone else wants to come with. Charles?

Ahhhh, inventory is done now. Time for the real fun. Give me a shout if you need my number to coordinate times and if anyone wants to stay here. Not a huge place but its home. Now all I have to do is take the bike into the shop for new meats.....

I have the days off, just getting it figured out if I'll be up there Turs - Mon or a little less. I'm up for whatever rides you organize Owen. I'll let you guys know soon exactly what days I'll be going up and oming back
