The Layoff

Been there as well.  Nobody is invulnerable.  My sales territory (FL), and subsequently I as well, were replaced by 5 existing people when our company merged back in January.

If things go sour you just have to get out there and pound the pavement.  I've been in outside B-to-B sales/consulting for the past 10 years so you have to look at your base skill set and where you can apply it.

I went out and obtained my FL Life, Health, and Annuity license, will be working on getting my Series 6 license, and I'm on the verge of gainful employment.  I had three interviews yesterday alone...my third follow-up interview w/ Guardian Life, my first interview with NW Financial Network and my second follow-up interview w/ John Hancock Financial.  Hopefully, I'll be getting offers from all three...they will still need to interview my wife as well!

 Actually, that's a good thing.

If anyone will be needing some FREE sound financial planning advice from a trusted source, I'm your guy.  For those in FL, I'm w/in a 4 hour bike ride of anybody.

Keep your head up, put a strategy together, do the leg work and it will pay off for you.

from my experience... when companies start that stuff.... you better start looking around now. Its *always* easier to find a job when you have one...some stigma of being unemployeed or laid off.

My best advice, start searching, find a new job while you have someone paying you to do it

and when you dont have to take the first best offer you find. Either way, good luck with it all

. They are still cutting people so not sure what the chain of command will be, so far the CEO,COO,CFO, Production Manager(my boss) and the two supervisors are all gone. Looks like whoever is left will have a serious task ahead of us to keep the buisness alive

Glad you made it. I went though this almost two years ago. Our plant was bought-out and my job was deleted. Got an awesome severence package though. What really pissed me off is that the new company offered me a job, but it was in New Orleans, and for a whole lot less money. I basically told them "No thanks..." and just prayed about it. Don't worry about it dude, it will work out for you. Just keep the faith...

I say all the companies that out source to other countries ought to be black listed by the American consumers . Let the countries they out source to buy their goods and services .
