**The OFFICIAL TEAM GIXXER smacktalk thread**

Looking good there "JayBird"! Give them old farts something to shoot for :)

Congrats on giving DiverMan a fresh threshold to climb over (On your first day out in the spring as well, can't beat that)!

Thanks! I know I have more time to shed too. Next month I have a new goal and feel pretty good about reaching it with some clean track..

Last weekend being my first one of the season, I had the challenge of going from a 190/50 rear Q2 to a 200/55 Slick which dramatically changed my tip-in points and line characteristics. I would not have expected to feel such a big difference. I also was getting used to a newer riding position after installing my vortex clip-ons..

All day long, while still going pretty quick, my lines through several of the corners were just horrible. I don't know why but I was also at least 2 bike width's too far left when topping the hill at turn 4. Everytime I would shake my head in disgust... I was getting better, but need more time. Hope for 2 beautiful days in May to really shed the rubber on those slicks

I will be taking a sabbatical from motos, track days, and racing til next year. We have cancelled all trips and track days for 2014.
Just a lot going on with kids & work right now. Between one moving and one getting married and one just left for Afghanistan last night..full plate.
See you all in full force next spring.

No Eureka Springs?

Sorry to hear man, but you have your priorities right...

We'll catch ya next season!!

Understand. Don't be a stranger Chris! Best of luck in all your and your family's endeavors!

Random question for you track junkies... Do you guys have any idea how well a Yamaha FZ1 would perform on track? Any issues with them?

The standard bars would be your biggest issue. Not from a performance issue, but a getting used to them issue. Braking, turn in, and the like would be just fine I would think.

It looks like the bars would be one of the biggest things to get used to. I've been looking a little bit and it seems like you can get a lot of bike for not much money with an FZ1. I'm seeing new 2013 bikes for $6,999. Just got me thinking a little bit. Nothing too serious.

I would rock one at a track day!!! I believe they are in the 140hp neighborhood, they will scidaddle...

Like you said, the position would take most getting used to, and I would be willing to bet (at least the front) is pretty severely undersprung and would be a good idea to at least put some stiffer springs in. I need to do this on my Bandit, it dives pretty heavy under braking which I think would cause an issue with me when really spanking it at the track...

They really are a LOT of bike for the money though, even forjust a street bike. They are a helluva street bike
