the weirdiest thing I have ever seen while riding.

There used to be a guy that lived in my brother's neighborhood who had a CB900F with a Hannigan fairing on it....he'd use his throttle lock, sit on the back seat and steer with his hands on the rear back carrier as he passed cars....

He said he'd get a good chuckle when he saw the looks on the driver's face when they initially saw no rider at the controls....

He traded that bike on a show quality Fat Boy and rode the ever loving crap out of that thing....it was always weeping oil out of almost every gasket....as we suspected, it didn't ;last him long as it wouldn't take the abuse.

..........and many others on this forum...

This was in the early '80s and HDs sure didn't like to be revved out like a Japanese 4 cyl bike.......

Too bad because it was a beautifully done bike...
There’s no point revving out a Harley.. the torque curve goes flat very early in the rev range.. the throttle just becomes a ‘volume control’ after that lol.
Let’s be honest, a Hayabusa ticks all the boxes, well for me anyway.

Check the differences between v twins and inlines in Pro Stock. The twin revs to 10,000+! That’s with a 5+” bore! The intake valves are nearly 3” and the exhaust valves are 2”. I’m surprised the twins use aluminum rods. And the 1,850 cc ‘Zuk’ motor, wow, 16to1 come ratio, 118 octane leaded fuel. Hot damn I’d like to ride one. :race:

Hi. Not one of my HD's ever leaked oil not 1 drop. The one I own now for 8 yrs oil changes, plugs and only 1 repair rebuilt the starter bike is a 1999 soft (hard) tail.

You probably didn't rev the guts out of it either like this guy did......
Hi. The one with the built motor I reved it out ti the max. The bike 10 to 1 KB pistons 1mm over valves ported head a 600 lift cam and more. Front and rear crash bars 5 bags heave for a 1995 soft tail girl and I 290 lbs or so raced a 117 inch big dog with only rider we were dead even.

Those must be just like a coworker's brother's Hardly-Ablesons...he has 5.
I've seen them too...not a drop of oil leaked anywhere...and they've been parked in his building for a long time...in various states of restoration...with no oil in them...

lmao

Hi. Mine all had oil in them.
Years ago a young soldier that worked for me bought a new Fat Boy and for some reason he put these aftermarket engine covers on is...the ones with the skull....

The primary started leaking and I told him it must be a flaw in the case but he said he liked it as it gave his bike character to have a drop of oil under it once in a while....

This same guy was a huge Honda guy before getting the Fat Boy.....then he and his girlfriend fell into the "lifestyle" hard and had all the HD paraphernalia....from watches to socks and beyond......he actually got kind of annoying after a while but he was a good soldier.

Same guy used to scoff at me (politely as I was his boss) because my GSXR was only a 1000 whereas his HD was a 1584 and he figured it would eat my bike as a result....

I took my '85 750 on a ride with him one time and absolutely left him for dead....afterwards I reminded him this was with an old 750 and my 1000 would eat that 750 for lunch so just imagine how it would be against his HD....I reminded him that ignorance is not bliss....

I never heard any more performance talk out of him after that....

When the local dealership had HD, the owner who's a friend of mine was saying he was amazed at how many people bought HD apparel who didn't even own a bike...when he asked them they'd say they just liked owning the clothing and other paraphernalia.....

...and he made a killing selling all that stuff......

I picked one up a while back and when I went to go to get another one, they were discontinued.....

I made my own ball cap by getting a black and yellow Suzuki hat then bought one of those Hayabusa keychains and superglued it to the brim....looks factory....
