Them GSXR1000's are....

(bquinn @ Jul. 10 2007,12:42) Very good points V8Pinto, I couldn't agree more.

In a perfect world we might all have both a busa and a liter bike

(bquinn @ Jul. 10 2007,09:17) Here's a few honest links to look at. Unfortunately none of them have info on the 05-07 1000's, but image adding another 15-20hp to the older bikes, better areodynamics, and the top speed will surely rise accordingly.

Again, the only reason I stand behind my thoughts are from experience on my personal bikes. I love both the 1000's and busas dearly, after all they are both bad a$$ suzukis. I just don't like people bashing bikes that they might not of even had experience on and that is what this seems to be. Also some food for thought, two bikes with same amount of hp. One weighs 75-85lbs less. Aerodynamics don't come strongly into play until after 180mph. Which one reaches 180 first???

Like I said, a stock Gixxer will not reach an actual 180, period. So, which one reaches 180 first? The Busa.

Also, not a one of the liter bikes in the first link you posted comes in at less than 10 seconds in the quarter. Again, a stock Busa will do better.

That's not brand or model loyalty. It's the truth.

Ummmmm .... Look at the second link he provided. Every liter bike turned a less than ten second quarter, and every one was faster than the busa.

I'm sure your busa is much faster than everyone else's though - here's to you and your own personal rocket.

My '06 bone stock Busa is hard to hold down in first and second gears. I pulled off from a landing the other day and about 5K in first the front came up several feet, hit second and right back up, got out of it and up shifted. I'm not a wheelie man. My buds were impressed while I was skeered. They didn't realize it was accidental. I have to wonder as fast as it happen if I didn't get a little rebound from the landing between first and second. Don't know.

The 2005 Yamaha R1 was ragged on for lack of mid-range punch . Compare it to the Busa Here click me

And look at the trap speed . Just harder to leave the line with .

I know this . A 2002 ZX-9R with a slip-on will just flat roll away from a stock Busa in 6th from 60mph and they have some very large cams generally not condusive to such . Been there and seen it with my own two bikes .

That same ZX-9R was kitted to 998cc and the 2006 GSXR1000 did to it , what it did to the Busa .

I am a Busa owner but from my view based on experiences, these modern liter bikes are stout .

(mountainmotor @ Jul. 11 2007,08:05) I am a Busa owner but from my view based on experiences, these modern liter bikes are stout .
Same experience I've had with numerous races with liter bikes. From a dead stop it isn't even close, but my bike is stretched and lowered for drag racing.

But doing a 70 mph or better rollon and they are, like you said, mighty stout.

I remember my first experience with the (at that time) mind-blowing 2001 GSX-R1000 at a drag strip.  My buddie, the owner of the bike, was turning 9.7's all day with a stock bike, just strapped in the front.  Our friends with their stock busa's couldn't break into the nines so one of them let him jump on their bike for a pass (thinking it was all him).  Seeing the opprotunity to ride his bike I jumped on.  My first pass was a 10.12 at 145mph (slow 60ft).  The crazy thing was he jumped ahead on the busa, but at the end of the track I actually caught him and had a 3mph higher trap speed.  A smile was permantly embedded on my face for days after riding that bike

Oh yeah, I weighed about 220 in street clothes and he was 160 in leathers.  From that day on I have always had a huge amount of respect for liter bikes, especially Suzukis.

Give me a mile long straight and I'd choose a busa over a liter bike any day, but for those short jaunts to 150mph put me on a 1000

Not faster than any other. 171 rwhp with bolt ons. Set up for track days, not drag racing.
