I been checking around little cause my job laid me off 4 summer + they suck.
Not much @ all few here + there. One our biggest employers Whirlpool refriferater plant just announced there heading south as in mexico. That throws 1,300 more out lookin + there nothing out there.
I thought things going get better not here.Yea elect obeyme obama and all gets better right.

at least it aint China:poke:
outsourcing sucks no matter what, large companies should be penalized making it not worthwhile to do such things...but until that happens, the manufacturing sector will suck. the threat is always going on at this plant that we need to stay competetive with our plants in China & Japan to keep this one open.

No, that just means that Whirlpool will increase profits, washers as well as other appliances will continue to cost more.

nothing in northern indiana either...they had 200 positions open at a factory and over 15k people applied to them

Putting the blame on Obama is a hell of a stretch. ???

Talking about things getting better..... How will we recover this time if there's no jobs ???

So, with all these companies moving South, does that mean most of the illegal immigrats (NOTE: "I said illegal") will move where the jobs are :::::::::::::: BACK HOME :welcome: BACK

NO IT'S NOT...not when he shoveled 800 BILLION DOLLARS to upper echelon
fat boys. I haven't seen any of it (sorry don't work for acorn) nor have I seen
any relief in the mortage or credit companies (they are still :moon:) or any
positive movement in the economy (despite the bs the news is trying to spin).

Another 3 billion in cash for clunkers :banghead: OMG....

It's not about Whirlpool, it's about stock holders

Which we all have the opportunity to be.

Any word on a recall to work for you Nightflight? I see natural gas is ridiculously cheap at present as we're running out of places to store the current level of production.

It's pretty hard to be a "stockholder" when your jobless.

1300 jobs is more important and has more effect than another .25 cents a share.

now now dont blame the union... our company wanted to close the plant. said we made too much..offered us a 5$ hr pay cut and pension cut and health cut..or close...we told them close... guess what ... after year of streching it out... plant not closed..they offered new contract with higher pay casue nobody in world could do what our guys with average 20+yrs experience could do for the cost.

True...it's always easier to save and invest when times are good. Not really the modern version of the "American Dream" to live life that way.

This can't really come as a surprise though. It's not as if this is the first manufacturing job to leave the U.S. in the last twenty years.

It would be nice to pretend we can keep these $12-$25/hr. jobs here over the long run, but with American consumers' constitutional right to everything for nothing, and Wal-Mart'ish cheaper is always better mentality, the reality is until Americans are willing to build washing machines for a couple of bucks an hour these jobs are going to continue to go elsewhere.

here's where I think we go wrong...it's our country (or was) and we can
do what we will. If we want to shut our borders on imports and tell that
chinese crap they ship us every month to turn around so be it, or tariff it
enough to make it more economically fesible to stay in America.

If you sell it here...you need to build it here.

All the consumer spending spin crap the media portrays...the number that
matters first and foremost is unemployment %. Till we get people working again
we are spinning our wheels and just put a bandaid over a huge gash.
