There has to be a 100 tip over threads....

Good luck with the rattle colorrite cans. They SUCK! wernt event close for the 09 white.
Second complaint on color match for white ColoRight in this thread.

I hope Candy Orange is better. seems as though it would be a lot more complicated than a white.

Checked Honda East site.

The black under cowling is $164

The Candy Max Orange side cowling is $399

Woodcraft Stator cover was about $160 at Pashnit, I believe.

Set of Pazzos....about $250, I think.

This is not SO bad....but I really always wanted a blazing scarlet busa. Like the scheme of the 08 B/O so I would stay wit nebular black tail and under.

Ohhh yeah don't forget to order a new upper fairing support brace cause I bet that got tweaked also.

Heh- Thanks, man...I wil; have a look at that. Damn, almost makes me happy this was a garage tip over. Can you imagine the cost of a REAL crash?

Just so you know...... I had the exact same damage on my bike from a Low speed crash and thanks to eBay I had my bike looking like new for 500 and change after getting a front and side fairing. on the tail I did what I mentioned earlier about moving the decal down to cover the scratch. Even if you don't wan to do that those signal pods are relatively cheap on eBay and I doubt your fairing stay is bent from that since mine looked worst and nothing happened to it and plastics lined up perfect. Like others said..... If you are patient you'll save some cash with eBay and you can use that extra money for some nice mods!

My 2 cents

Thank you mabuda. Yup. I WILL be checking Ebay for a while. Gonna get the pazzos and woodcraft (or some other cover) first. Then we'll see what I can find on ebay. I mentioned your suggestion on the other Fairings thread going on right now in the Gen2 section. Some dude bought a crappy set of Chinese fairings that literally broke off. damn,.

Actually, your Ebay suggestion gave me another idea....if I can get used good fairings cheap, used damaged fairings should be dirt cheap. Could pick up a set of rashed fairings and sand to my hearts content then paint at my leisure. Might end up being a couple hundred bucks for the whole set + paint.

That might be a good idea! I checked when you first started this thread but, te only black/orange on there right now are worst than yours(cracked).

scraped, I can deal with but cracked, forget it. Not even worth it to try to patch that unless maybe the fairings are free.

Need to double check the fairing / cowl support brace. Look at where the inner black panels run along with the cowl. If you see ANY uneven gaps you are going to want to either purchase a new or take the time and try to tweak it back,
The dealer DIDNT replace mine during the insurance claim and within 3 weeks later I started getting stress crack on the cowl which eventually snapped. $440.00 piece...

Looking at the pictures of your damage how in the hell did the scrapes get so deep and long even the stator cover looks as almost a lay down slide. when it tipped over did it slide down a concrete driveway
:dunno:

I did not see it fall but I think the kickstand folded back. It probably was moving forward very slightly as it fell, propelled by the kickstand pivoting. The driveway is gravelly and rough. Very old asphalt that could be replaced.

Thanks for advice on the fairing support brace. Checked the price on that. Under $200. I'll have a look at it. Yes the textured ram air cover has a gap between it and the painted fairing. I was hoping it had just come unhooked but sounds like it may be a symptom of something more serious.

I rubbed spit on the black lower and all of the scrapes are in the clearcoat. They disappear when wet. I think I will try clear coating and polishing that to like new condition.

Sand down and powder coat the stator cover, should be less than $20. I can give you a paint code for the black that will match very well with the possible excepiton of the SIZE of the blue flake and you can buy cheap automotive paint instead of Colorite. Best bet is used on the orange as stated. I wouldn't even try Colorite on the orange (seen that before and it was bad). The other option is a complete repaint, which is what I have done. That way I can match the color no problem if I need to. Actually I needed to after crashing coming out of the water box at the track last year.

Thanks Dennis. We have a very good powdercoater just north of Milwaukee so I would use them. However, I plan to buy an aftermarket stator cover. I have a thread going if you have any ideas on which one you like best.https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/busa-mods/173997-aftermarket-engine-covers-selection.html

As for the black fairing paint, I was elated to find that the scrapes all disappear when I rub a gob of spit over them. The scrape is not through the clearcoat so I will be able to spray and polish. If I need a paint code, I'll PM you though.

It hurts a lot less the second time. I did it again. Same scenario. Stand is down bike is safe. lift bike off stand move a short distance, put back down on stand. Bike stands a few seconds and falls over. All I can thin is that I have a weak spring on the sidestand. There are supposed to be two springs, one coil inside the other. I only used one when I put the aftermarket stand on. I leave the side stand up all winter with the bike on a rear stand so that prolly does not help the spring tension either. First step to rebuild, buy new kickstand springs.

:unhappy:

No way!! glad it happened before you ordered all new parts.

I'm curious to see how far forward this stand goes when down :dunno:

eh---Just looked. I know it is not quite as reliable as the OEM in terms of lockout goes. Also, would help if the base was wider or a tab stuck out to the front to brace against pivoting backward. I would say it is fine as long as you bump it forward with your foot.

Also....having stand up for the season is better for the spring. It is not under tension when retracted up.

just tore fairings off left side for the first time since the first tip over.

I'm almost certain there were broken tabs from the first bloody episode. ...so new fairings, it is and would have been even if the second tipover never happened.

Busted tabs marked with blue tape

Cracked grommet, plastic pin busted off fell inside frame

These grommets must get pushed into the ram air easily or something. I've had to replace these in the past. Gone again.

It's Ebay.

Help me out here. How do you bid on Ebay?....I see a NEW left lower for 08 Black and Orange for 120$ free shipping. 0 bids. 2 more days. They are normally $164.

That is a good price but I am short on cash... If I lowball, can I rebid?

Should I just take it for $120? ...I'd be thrilled to get it for a hundred.

I actually had mine dropped last summer when the mechanic was installing my computer. I have an 08 and know very well the prices. My damage is identical. One of two things you can do. I made an insurance claim and they paid me about 2000 for parts and paint. I got the new parts and will be painting it myself. That particular fender is about 400 and that is just the outer color piece. The inner black panel is a few hundred more. My advice is scrape the sticker off and sand it down smooth. Maybe a little filler for the deep spots. Then paint away.

I still have my stock clutch and brake levers since I had just swapped them out. If you want them Ill send them to you for nothing.

Thank you Chemmy, my Michigander brother (I grew up in the little UP everyone thinks is a part of Canada). I will keep your lever offer in mind. I'm pretty sure I will be going with a set of Pazzos before I even get the fairings replaced.

I go fast at times. ..at least I have on a good many occasions. Repainting is no longer on the table. I won't feel comfortable without new panels that have all tabs intact.

My Ebay plan is to pay a fair price if it's offered. The item for sale is often flooded with bids close to the end of the sale and some people overbid if the asking price was low. I will be a little tougher on the side cowl which sells for $400. I'm looking to pay a third less than what I would pay in a non-Ebay deal. I'd say that's ambitious enough. Worth a try.

....of course, the seller does not have to sell the item if no one bids what they consider a fair price.

A friend asked if I cursed when installing the fairings before the riding season started. Yes, of course I did. They don't have that step in the service manual but swearing is a part of the fairing installation procedure.

So my friend told me the bike is cursed and I must have it blessed with holy water. Church will be the first place I go with the bike when it is all perfect again.

I've bid on the left underbody fairing. The guy lowered his price to $110.

I emaliled him I also need a side and possibly a nose.

He emailed me back "I have those....I'll put them up."

Prices again are about 2/3 the cost of a non-Ebay seller.

Horrible thought: What if these are those crap Chinese fairings? I don't see any reason they would need to mention that.

Last post was 12 months ago. Since then, I installed new OEM fairings, Woodcrafts stator cover and Pazzo levers. New bar end mirror. Looks nice, Rides great!

As mention by lankeeyanky at the top of this page, my fairing stays might have been tweaked and that is what this post is about.

On the left side which the bike fell on (twice), the fairings look nice and tight.
Lnogaps.jpg

The right side looks like this.
P1130357.jpg

P1130358.jpg

and from the front, I see the inner fairing above the fender and the point of the upper side fairing don't quite match up. I don't remember if it was like this before. How's it look to you? Should I bother with ordering a new fairing stay or is this normal?
