I've owned an 03 and an 06 Hayabusa.
I've also owned five other bikes in the last six years.
An 02 Kat. An 85 ZL9. An 06 Gixxer 750. An 04 Roadstar and a 04 Intruder LC.
In My opinion The Hayabusa is the "Perfect" motorcycle.
It is a wonderful Tourer. A Cruiser...and Sportbike.
It is an agile, even nimble bike that is capable of carving "Knee
Dragging" corners, or offering a plush "Two Up" ride with the wife.
It has Neck Snapping power, yet still offering exceptional fuel ecomony of forty or more miles per gallon.
It is a timeless sculpted work of art, that remained unchanged for nine years. Unheard of, in a market that demands the latest and greatest from the Manufactures.
Recently, I picked up an 06 ZX14. I've admired the styling of the 14 for sometime.
I was actually looking for an 08 Busa but, when this 14 became available I thought It might be interesting to switch it up.
I have to say, the ZX is a much different bike, from the Busa.
I have found the Kawasaki to have more of a "Sportbike" feel. Firmer. It has a more forward riding position. However, the footpegs feel down and forward a bit. It also offers more immediate wind deflection to the Rider, without tucking. (Remembering I'm 6'3").
The ZX14 that I bought has a full Muzzy system, Power Commander, and has been Dyno tuned. (reportedly producing about 205 plus hp).The engine is noisier though. So far, I like it a great deal and I'm sure I'll enjoy the change however...
...It's no Busa!
I'll no doubt, have another Busa. Possibly next Summer.
It feels .......MORE!
More everything.
It handles better, which translates into Rider confidence and Safety.
The brakes on the Busa offer much better "Feel" than the ZX. Again inspiring confidence.
This is suprising considering that, Brakes on the Busa have always be critisized.
The overall ride of the Busa is much softer, which some people complain doesn't offer much road feel, however, the Busa doesn't need it. Just point and go!
It'll get you out of most "Tricky" situations, without the "drama", associated with typical sportbikes.
For what it's worth, in my opinion, the ZX14 is a beautifully styled motorcycle, however, it does not inspire the same level of Rider confidence, comfort and Brute performance of the Hayabusa.
It is those traits that truely leaves the Rider excited, fullfilled and completly excelerated.
Additionally, the Hayabusa has endless amounts accessories and performance mod.s instantly available. Oddly, the 14 has few mods, considering that it's now been in production for four seasons.
