Ok most all threads regarding tires dwell on how well they handle but I would like to know what tire most would recommend for long miles .
I don't really care about the handling aspect as much as I do the longevity factor . What tire would last long and not develop a flat spot down center so fast ?

Saiid,

Search for my post here a month or so ago on my results on my Avon Storm-- I got over 12k out of it...so impressed I turned right around and bought the new Storm Ultra 2 they have come out with--- I commute almost exclusively and have tried SEVERAL tires and had good results with most all... but this one beat all others hands down:thumbsup:....

Thanks guys .
Sleepless also told me about the Avons .
I've got about 6k on the HPXs and the flat spot down center is getting to where I can feel it when riding .

This flat spot you talk about, is that what gives the feeling of something being "out of whack" when steering?

Avon Storm 2 Ultra!

Pic is more than 3k miles of 95% 2up. Not even half way thru yet. I should have no problem at all getting 6-7k out of them the way we ride. I have 1/8 to no chicken strips and have absolutely no issues with tires at all. Best tire I have ridden on in the wet too!!

You would probably almost double the mileage with the Storms. Like I've said before, I've been running them since the bike had 16,000 miles on it and now has over 73,000 and still using the same brand.

We have the same riding style which is mostly highway. Not to mention how well it handles in the rain. Roads feel like they're bone dry.

Avon Storms. Same review as sleepless_red just posted. Thanks for saving me the time Jesse

You're welcome.:beerchug:

Forgot to mention that Pashnit runs the same thing and he's even dragging knees with them. Ask him about them and see what he says.:-)

Doesn't really affect steering it's just a spot where I can feel it going from flat spot to round edge . Rather than a nice smooth transition I can now feel it cross over from flat to round . The worse it gets the more pronounced the diff from flat to round will become. I fear the one in a million time where the one time I need the section that is the edge (part where it goes from flat center to unused round edge) instead of being a nice round edge it will be on an edge and possibly not grip as much as it would or should . It's just not a good feeling when you swipe your hand across the tire and can feel a def flat spot .

The prices went up on pirelli angels.... It used to be less than 230 now your looking at 260 for both shipped

You cant expect a tire to wear "round" if all you do is ride the flats no matter how hard the compound is in the middle.

I've used both the Angels and the Storms and they both perform equally well with regards to longevity. 7K-9K out of either of them. My riding area is 50/50 Straight/Curve so wear is pretty even.

Right now i am on my 3rd set of Angels because the going price for them is pretty reasonable. Before that i went thru 2 sets of Storms. No matter what, i change my tires in complete sets.

Yes your right Ace . I'm not expecting miracles. I'm just looking for a set of tires that wont develop a flat spot so fast . Every tire I've ever had here in Florida has developed one . Just curious which ones may be a bit 'tougher' than others.

Hit some turns every once and awhile and you wouldn't have this problem.:rofl:

I'm sorry that word doesn't exist in the official Florida dictionary .
When they wanna build a road they can build it straight thru cuz there's nothing in between points A and B .
