Tires p.s.i. goes down over night!

Here's a strange abnormality! I noticed the other day after a ride my tires were low. I checked them and they are off by 11 to 12 lbs. So I pumped them back up to 42 psi each. I rode that night and today when I went out to ride they were down to 36 lbs each! What gives? My wife says it might be the heat in the garage during the day. But here in Las Vegas it's been only mid eighties during the day and low sixties at night.
My bike is a 2005 LE with stock tires. Any ideas would be appreciated....

put them up to 45, get a bucket with dish soap and water, try not to make it bubble as you fill it, and pour all over tire and rim. It WILL bubble at leak points. It might be as easy as a stem or as bad as a cracked rim. Let's hope for a bad stem.

do the soap thing...
+1
and let everyone know what u find.

Sounds like the valve stems to me~ Check to see if they're holding the presure~ Could be that they are not reseating properly after you fill the tires...

Yea i would lean towards to valve stems too. I've seen someone post a link here about valve stem caps that have o-rings in them and they are supposed to help keep tires from losing pressure over time from the valve stem assembly itself.

I dunno, I'd buy a second high-quality air guage and then check two days in a row, Dead cold Tires. Then report findings. PSI Can vary pretty dramatically based on temp. Especially if you've been riding.

FWIW, Both tires loosinng the same pressure? Doesn't seem like you would have a consistant drop in both tires if there was a leak...

true Revlis... Same psi loss leans towards temp variations.

ONLY check your tires cold / before riding, not after a couple of miles.

Have you hit any potholes? They can put a small cut in the tire and give it a nice slow leak and if you hit it with both then both get the same leak if not then do what revlis said. If you do have a leak well lets just say that sucks, since you will need new tires.
