if we can the smack shack, what happens next is: all the trash talk, etc is going to flood the other forums.

Before the SmackShack, I didn't really see all that much trash talk in the other parts of the forum, at least until certain individuals showed up here. While the smack shack worked well as a way to corral those people in there, I think if they had been shown that we really had no need for such b.s. in the first place, there never would have been a need for it in the first place.

I'd say not only shut down the smack shack, but also shut down the people who necessitated it in the first place. As someone pointed out above, it's little more than the area for a few people anyways, and they have the same conversation/argument/whatever over and over again anyways.

well maybe it is time to clean house.

3, 4 years ago, this site was full of information... not pics of chicks on bikes(WHICH EVERYONE SEEMS TO NEED), etc..

I hear more about needing to see girls in bikinis than less smack talk.
What is more important? Maybe we need to eliminate all of that nonsense? rock.gif

--------------------------------------------

If we are going to make changes, ie: remove the smack shack forum, then other things need to be looked at too. There are far more serious issues to deal with besides smack talk.

Make a list..

check it twice...

cache and Captain gonna say whose naughty or nice..........

Cache -

You and Doug are steering this boat. So whatever you all decide I have no problems with (not that it would matter if I had any problems with it anyway biggrin.gif ) .

It just seems to me that people are starting to get hard feelings towards each other that is originating in the Smack Shack and those hard feelings are being felt in other forums.

Just feels like more animosity and less forgiveness around here lately.

Instead of having a close family like we used to have, starting to feel like our family should be on the Jerry Springer show.

However, I never go into the Smack Shack. Not my style. So as you stated, I don’t like it so I don’t go in there.

I just got drug in there because I received a complaint and I handled it in what I thought was the best manner.

And quite a few people have seemed to have taken a notice to the issue and is re-evaluating themselves and the Smack Shack itself.

Just my .02

I am here to serve.. I work for the government.. trust me biggrin.gif

The only forum I dont see me as mod on is the raffle forum. I dont see any mods on that one.

Is that what you were referring to? or did you remove me as mod from all forums? rock.gif

Honestly makes no diff to me...If ya don't like it..don't go there. However, on the other hand, it wasn't here when I arrived. I didn't miss it then.

I believe that the more important piece is to address the core of the problem;
Those individuals that continually feel the need to intentionally stir shid up (one in particular).

This board (like the real world) is made up of tons of different personalities. We all have different opinions on many different subjects. I am all for intelligent, ADULT conversation. I have decided to do my best to stay out of all the BS and mudslinging convo's. Nothing fun about that.

Somebody says something to intentionally piss you off...ignore 'em. They get enough of that and they will either knock it off, or go away.

That will NEVER happen on the internet, bro. People seem to find it absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to pass on troll bait. You're right though... 99% of it would go away if totally ignored. As I said though, it'll never happen on the internet. Even those who wouldn't get involved in person in a conversation of that nature feel compelled to throw in their $.02. wink.gif

As for the topic at hand, sure you can say don't go there if you don't want to see it. Truth is that on any site that this type of stuff is allowed on, spill over into the other forums is inevitable. On every forum I've ever hung out on that had adult content sections, there were people drawn in by that section that contributed nothing to the site and only stirred the crap in other forum sections when they weren't gettin' their porn fix. The same seems to hold true for the Smack Shack. This site has always been "different" and I still say this site is what it is because of the rules it has always followed and the fact that the rules kept the bs to a minimum. Just my $.02.

Yea, you are right...you noticed I said I was going to "try" to stay out!

It is tough not to slap the trolls. I've done my share.

I have only been around for a few months now and the smack shack wasn't here when I first joined. Lately there have been a lot of people getting mad at each other and a few people trying to leave the board. That didn't happen before. Is it because of the smack shack? can't really say. I don't think we need one. People are always going to talk shid and if it bothers you then you don't have to read it. I think that there should be a limit to what you can and can't say i.e. gettting personal and involving family but that's it. Cache and Capt, you guys run the board and if you think we need a smack shack then we do and vice versa. I am gonna get off of my soapbox.gif now.

I feel it has done nothing but open up rifts here as it tends to get out of hand with tit for tat retaliations.. I never post there and rarely visit it . Much prefered the forum without it..

Well, I wasn't specifically referring to YOU not being able to refrain. I guess it could have come across that way though. Sorry about that. biggrin.gif And yeah, it's tough not to smack down a troll here and there. That's what they are lookin' for though. It's what they feed off of. wink.gif Even knowing that I agree, it's hard not to fire off a round or two at 'em when they pop up. biggrin.gif

but you are right..It is what they feed off of. We all need to do our best to stay away from "those individuals" that are here just to stir shid up.
