Traffic light cam

I am going to get some blocker spray, so I don't have to fight a ticket that's probably not mine.

Or at least I will feel like I'm fighting the man.

If we decide to do away with democracy, Can someone appoint Sloto to head up the police state?

(V-Max 2 Busa @ Sep. 30 2007,16:12) OK what's the official scoop on this photoblocker spray?  Any and all input welcome.
Does this really work?
Does it yellow, crack, peel or fade over time?
Is it visually obvious that the plate had been altered or had something applied to it and do the po-po pick up on this?
How many plates will one can effectively cover?
Mythbusters did an episode on plate blockers, none of it worked.

Yea , A friend of mine told me about that !! SO I dont know ( Also there are 2 different plate covers) I know I ran A lot of lights in Tampa and other places and havent gotten any tickets... I would trust the plate cover that changes the mumbers when looked at from an angle..The others

(SPANKY482 @ Oct. 01 2007,18:31) Article on camera enforcement.

http://ticketassassin.com/autoenf_toc.html
My favorite paragraph. "Over 15,000 citizens were cited at $338 each. This means that the city collected over $5,000,000 in fines to make its streets more dangerous. The city's response to the obvious failure of their camera program : they are installing two more cameras. I hope the local trauma centers are well-funded and can handle the increased business."

More cameras would be ridiculous.

There are a lot of examples of municipalities installing them having a resulting INCREASE in collisions at the intersection. This is due to people slamming on their brakes to stop when other inattentive drivers are following behind.

The corporations that build them actually campaign and lobby the local government to install them all the while pushing safety and dollar signs for the city.

Raytheon and General Dynamics along with Northrup Grumman all have stoplight and speed camera programs. To top it all off, the people that send out the citations and charge you as guilty are not even police officers. They are civilians that must perform or lose their jobs, so that leads to alot of questionable citations in the mail to us. If you liked that, so far there have been several cases of fraud around the US stemming from the "reprogramming" of traffic signals at said intersections to shorten the yellow light interval, thus making it inconsistent with DOT standards. Talk about us getting the shaft right up the rear.

<!--EDIT|Projekt|1191076353-->
The increase is in fender benders, yet the cameras are proven to decrease side impacts which are what cause fatalities. I have to agree with Sloto, I want more of the things installed. We have acouple here and there around the area and honestly I wish they were on every intersection. This crap about them causing accidents, uhm no. The people not paying attention to the car infront of them and following too closely/speeding are causing the accidents. Also, the only times they were thrown out was places that didn't give you an option to fight it. Here, you can contest it....but how do you contest it when you have a picture and video of you doing the deed? Thats like Clinton saying "I didn't inhale"...come on. If it's not you, then they basically gave you evidence proving it wasn't it you and it's an easy fix.

It's very simple. The people that drive responsible could care less about these lights because it doesn't effect them. Why else would you not like them other then the fact that they interfer with your wanting to bend the law? Privacy? Anybody can look into your car when you are driving about, what are you smoking? And do you have any idea how many security cameras you are on just driving home? Pass a gas station? You are on at least two. Bank? Thats another two. Who freakin cares. It doesn't break any of your rights, it just keeps you responsible for your acts.

I think there needs to be more cameras. ?There sure as hell aint enough police on the streets anymore! ?The ones that are out there are to busy with car accidents, drivebys, gangs and what ever else is going on. ?There arent enough cops to watch the common "sheep" on the road. ?People notice and now-a-days DRIVE HOW EVER THEY WANT. ?I cant tell you how many times in the last 2 weeks i've been cut off on my bike and my car. ?Just last night i was already entering the exit ramp of the freeway. ?When from 2 lanes over to my left this blazer just decided he want to get off to. ?Good thing i have antilock brakes and the off ramp was wide cause i used them both. ?Red lights... dont mean anything anymore. ?People dont stop for them... i had to stop in the middle of an intersection a week ago because i noticed a guy that was heading toward his red light at a high rate of speed. ?ZOOM through the intersection... i would have been T-boned on my bike, probably killed had i not looked both ways before crossing even though i had a green light. ?There needs to be more of something out here... the rest of us "sheep" are trying to stay alive with our normal everyday driving. ?

I agree with Sloto, around here, Red means go really fast through the light. I have had so many close calls with cars running lights around here. One town close to me got cameras and it stopped alot of the runners from running the lights.

I am all for the cameras. I lived in Scottsdale when they started stoplight and speed cams. Red light running slowed a lot.. as far as rear end collisions, do not follow so close as not to maintain control of your car... Go to 2 or 3 wrecks where people run red lights... ugly....

People today have lost accountability and so the govt has to step in for the innocent victims of careless or reckless drivers. Sad but just how it goes, people abuse freedom, it gets taken back.. terrible dilemma if you ask me

I agree people have lost their accountability But I dont think Big Corp. and the GOV . should get rich off of it... We've lost our way as a nation. The GOV. is accountable to its people not the other way around... GOV. Has become HUGE business...

Being broadsided would be a b!tch so I won't argue there, but the same could be accomplished with a public awareness campaign. Similar to all the stuff about aggressive drivers being reported by others via a tollfree number. Truly dangerous activities should be monitored by police on site.

well that is the dilemma, how do you make people feel accountable.. the wallet seems to be the only thing most truly worship..

Should the govt get rich on these clowns? no... not for 1 second.

The money collected would be best applied to the havoc these same people cause. Victim recovery, therapy, other projects that help the people most adversely affected by traffic accidents as well as public awareness.

The proceeds should directly benefit victims of accidents and NOT some clown in office with some pet project for some beneficiary.(I abhor politics and what goes on there)

In fact when a city decides to run these cams, a public forum on fund expenditure should be established that includes NO politicians. Politicians (most) appear to be out of work lawyers with little or no moral compass (just an opinion)

So anyone want to run for office ?

screw those red light cameras. i make it a point to avoid those intersection

why not just "Stop" for the redlight?   kind of simple concept I thought
sometimes you cant.
you know when your turning left at an intersection. you have the green light but there is no break in on coming traffic so you Wait to they get the yellow but someone runs the yellow? so what do you do? sit in the middle of the road, no you go, i seen the cameras flash a plate of a car the other day for that very same thing. i think most of us would not like to be stuck in the road but that means a ticket.
so some people here sit in the middle so they don't get the ticket.

I'm courious , how many politicians , POPOs , Judges, get tickets? They are either perfect drivers or abouve the law.. Policeman courtesy popo USUALLY wont give another POPO a ticket even if hes outa state. Ona different note a friend just called from VW . said you have an animal tax there .. yearly tax on your dog and now if you have a cat that stays inside YOUR house there is a tax on that too... where does the DEE DEE DEE stop. When we're a puppet?

Those cameras only trip if you break the curb line (draw an imaginary line from sidewalk edge to sidewalk edge) after the light goes red. If you are already in the intersection when the light turns, it does not shoot you. It also records your speed as well. The picture is of you "running" the light at the curb line, not in the middle of the intersection sitting waiting..

I do not see any reason to run any redlight myself
