Traffic Light Stays Red

I tried using the search engine and couldnt find any info. Forgive me and direct me if is out there.
I've always had big bikes like the GPZ, ZX11, etc, and never had a problem waiting for the red traffic light to turn green when Im the only one around (in the suburbs). However, now that I have the 06' Black/Grey 'Busa, the traffic light will stay solid red no matter what. I tried rolling the bike back and forth over the sensor on the ground. This happened on more than one locations. This bike is no lightweight, is over 500lbs. And Im over 300lbs (yes I need to lose weight-Im working on it).
I know there is a device out there that suppose to trigger the light green but U mean to tell me all 'Busa owners are having the same problem with this big bike? My question is, do I need this gadget or is there a free mod that I can do to resolve this problem? Thanks.

I think it's an electro magnet rather than a weight sensor; at least here in MO. There are some products offered that are supposed to help; "Signal Sorcerer" among others.

there are 2 that come to mind near where I live that stay red no matter what. I either wait for a car to come or I'll wait for a break in traffic and just blow it.

So that means the Busa has little metals compared to other bikes? I can't understand the reason why this is happening.

There are a couple of products out there one is signal magic or magic green - most of the new light signals are triggered by magnetic disruption instead of by weight. Essentially, these products are relatively large magnets that you place at a low point on the bike... Problem with the busa is all the aluminum and plastic... so a concentrated field at the bottom of the bike will help..... I don't mess with it... gives people a better longer chance to admire Bessie!

Cant do that here. It has 6 lanes. LEO's are notorious out here.

Only 1 light near my house that has given this problem ......the rest have changed like they're supposed to . I agree w/Monster & Spigga on the solution .

Aluminum isn't magnetic. Older bikes had more steel. On the weight sensitive ones, I always stop hard right on the pad. I also subscribe to the 2 second rule.

Yeah, I give it 2 light cycles for turn lanes. If it doesn't give me a green by then, I blow it. If I'm alone and waiting for a cross light, no cars show up, I'll blow it after about 5-6 mins.

Sometimes rolling up and back helps.

The LEO's here in Springfield are understanding as it's a fairly widespread problem in this city. As MC MUSTANG stated, all the aluminum in late model bikes makes them "invisible" to the sensors. Over time, the officers start to recognize which intersections have the problem.

The city can change the sensitivity of the magnetic field at the intersection. You just have to call them and tell them that you are having problems. Of course it might take them a while to do something about it or you could just leave it and let someone else deal with it...

If we were only this "invisible" to the radar guns.......

According to a Brevard county sheriff you legally can run the red if you have given ample time for said light to cycle and it does not. You just need to make sure that it is safe to do it. I have quite a few of them around my area.

get off your bike and push the crosswalk button or search ebay for "green light trigger".

Ride with someone on a Harley bucket-full-of-bolts and metal and you won't have this problem...

I too have had this happen...I usually pull up enough to allow the car behind me (if there is one) to roll up a bit and trigger the sensors...

Buddy of mine waited through 5 light cycles before he looked both ways then went on through...he was on my Busa...off duty cop pulled him and ran my tags, gave him all sorts of info on why that was wrong, blah blah blah...so, seems what's understood by many about being able to go through after a few cycles may still bring out a cop or two to give you grief...

same way here except for a few lights that I know wont change I just make sure its safe and blow through them
