getting ready to replace my trans i was told there are two detents and springs on the end of the shift drum that might shoot out when splitting the cases just wanting to verify this so i know to watch for them and go slowly

i have shop manual it does not showw the two derents and springs

go slowly and also watch for the fork tubes, they could be bent so carefully check them for straightness.

You dont need to take the shift drum appart to split the cases...unless you need to replace the shift forks....If they are within specs leave them alone....just replace your tranny and make sure you align the forks back in place....dont forget about the 8mm bolt under the crankshaft balancer...cases should come appart pretty easy if you need to force it you missed a bolt somewhere...
