Trooper stops speeding Police officer

Yeah, You can hear the guy say he was late for work or something like that and why are you arresting me I'm a cop, then she says something about him doing 120 MPH. I know in some states VA for one, reckless driving will get the cuffs slapped on you.

The story says:

A Miami police officer is accused of driving 120 mph on a turnpike because he was late for his off-duty job working security at a school.

He's being well represented by the Union and is 35 years of age. He was in the wrong, she was in the right, but the way our world is today; he will get promoted and she'll end up in a dead end and being driven from her job.

He deserved to be pulled over.

I can't count the number of times that I see the popo break traffic laws, speeding, running red light, no turn signal, etc.

I got no problem with them speeding a little. If you have ever ridden on I-95 a trooper traveling at 55 mph will backup traffic for many miles  But that guy was off the chart:laugh:

Hahahaha now that's hilarious! But dadofthree is probably right except that the officer probably got a little more than a slap on the wrist since the video went viral.. and the poor trooper will be labeled a nark or worse for the rest of her career which is BS. Good on her for stopping a moron.. no need to go that fast unless something of a serious nature requires it.

At first thought I am thinking that had to have been a hard decision to make because it can cause her life long consequences also...however, if you do some searches for other videos that show/tell more you get a little more information.

What if she had let the car go then 5 minutes later got a call for it being stolen by a murder suspect~?~ She does mention she thought it may have been stolen.

She also mentions they have been after the Miami City Police cars running up 95 (I am assuming well out of their jurisdiction) for some time and can never catch them. Sounds like the troopers have already had conversations about the situation at hand and have been on the lookout, so I feel like her entire dept was probably already on board with the stop.

I agree. Average speed on the Tpike is around 90 so a car going 120 isn't really flying by everyone. I just wonder if he did it because he was a cop and thought it ok for him not us or if he's just a speeder and would have done it as a civilian

City of Miami and FHP are always at odds here

I remember a trooper stopped a MPD Detective for speeding, the detective told him he was on his way to a crime scene. Trooper blew it off held him up wrote a ticket, by the time the detective got his ticket and headed out there two marked MPD units pulling up and arresting the trooper for interferring in a police investigation or someother trumped up charge.

cops are exempt from motor vehicle laws while in the peformance of their duties. sometimes a siren or overhead lights will alert the person their trying to catch up to or follow or will alert the burglar who is breaking into a house that the police are coming. this wasnt one of those cases obviously but when you say "Break traffic laws" thats not always the case.

a marked police unit would never in a million years be pulled over here in the northeast. never! not saying what he was doing was right but im just saying it would never happen in this neck of the woods. FHP are a bounch of azzzholes imo. always have been.
