True cruise control

The install went well. It would have gone a bit faster with some of the info in the thread. I didn't think the switch looked waterproof, so I water proofed it. I messed up the contacts in the switch in the process. It was faster buying another kit at the local auto parts store to get the switch than getting a replacement switch.
I had no luck finding a kit locally and had to order it online. Also is the switch waterproof or not ? I thought I read on the STN site that someone used silicone to waterproof the contacts in the switch housing.

Control pad is not water proof. Be sure to use some silicone before installing.

So you got it installed and everything is working?
If so, if you did anything different then posted, add to what I put.

Installed pretty much the same as yours as far as the location of components.   With the two changes below, the install can be done without having to remove the air box.

I pulled the tach signal from the ECM instead of from the coil.  T-ed off of the Yellow wire at the connector under the seat.  Flip dip switch 7 to OFF for ECM.

I still have the PAIR, so I T-ed into the PAIR vacuum hose for the vaccum source.  I'm running without a vacuum canister at the moment.  If it has trouble holding speed, I'll add one later.

One other thing. I cut the black and grey wires from the controller at the same length as the wires that plug into the 4 pin connector. I added a 2 pin connector for these wires. Now, when pulling the left side fairing, I can easily disconnect all of the wiring. If you don't add the connector, your plastics will be teathered to the bike by the ground and back lighting wires.

No vaccum canister and how long have you been riding with it like this ?

umm... One day. AudioVox claims that the vacuum canister isn't needed for most installations and to try running without first. There may be a problem with the CC holding speed on long hills (not many of those in MO) and if you experience problems with the CC not holding speed, then upgrade to the canister.

It doesn't hurt to have one and not really need it. If it turns out that I need to add one, I have to tear the bike back apart to add it. I'll post here if I end up adding one.
