I just want to toss this out there for people to consider...

I had the bike tuned and checked at a local bike shop, and afterwards, was never really happy with the result... the AFR looked like a rolling ocean in a hurricane....

So, on a hunch i brought the bike to a second place, one that came highly recommended, but that was a long trip away... 110miles round trip...

But it was a nice day, and i used it as an excuse to make a road trip...

well... lesson learned...

After a retune... the bike gained 15ft rwtq and 9 rwhp and had an AFR nice flat and smooth....

no joke...

just a note for people to know who they are having work on their bikes....

I made the mistake... and im not likely to do it again..

like you said, lesson learned and well worth the long haul. good thing you went with your gut feeling that something wasn't right.

No need to throw the first guys name out there but the second guys name would be of help to someone in your area.

sorry bout the numbers... they were expected numbers after the tune was fixed, so i didnt bother mentioning them....

nothing interesting to really report there honestly, they are just good finally..

dyno when i rolled into their shop put the bike at 142rwhp, and torque was just... wrong..

rolled out with 151 rwhp, 91 rwtq... bikes more or less stock...just a BMC, +3 rear, Yosh Slip ons...

the off peak torque was the biggest change... bike pulls hard now through the mid range, where it didnt before... like i said, a gain of 15rwtq.... can feel that in the seat of my pants just fine!

Oh, was on 91/93 octane blend for what its worth....

The first place should give you your money back, since they obviously don't know what they are doing.

Doubt that happens since he left the shop with the bike. I added an O2 sensor and a data loger to my bike so I can tune it myself. Costs less than 2 trips to the dyno for tuning.

I went from Cleveland,Ohio down to Columbus to get my ZX10 tuned(about 200 miles each way). Since Motorhead is no longer around I trust anyone else in the area.

HMF did a fantastic job on my Busa. But that was their pipe. The 10 has an Akro on it. So I figured it was a bad idea to go there.

As nice as that would be, the shop has actually been very good to me any many other ways... So while i would never take the bike back for tuning, i would still use them for basic service...

I should have just known, well, they should have know their limits...

I chalk it up to learning experience, move on, don't do it again...

Ironicly, i might have got a tuning customer (i tune vehicles, its a new camaro) while i was at the new shop hahah....

So, if i get the customer, i will actually come out money ahead...

works for me...

that's great that you were able to get a better tune but why the big secret. It would be nice to know what shop did a poor tunning job for you. Also it's good to know what shop provided you with more positive results so others are a little more aware. It's not a bash/slam/hate thing. It's just you honest experience. There are shops I'll go to for some things and not for other things. There's nothing wrong with that and should be ok to share with others.

It's on you though if you wish to share information or not. :beerchug:
