V.I.R. Full course track day!

WAY TO GO TIM! looks like you where having a great time!

Question: You started your Q2's cold 30/30; and when they heated up to 37/34, did you let some air out to get to 29 rear and 30 front hot? Go out and check your cold pressure now and tell me what the cold settings are....out of curiosity. Could you tell difference in grip once you let the hot pressure down a little?

Keith when I left the house I had set air pressure at 34/34 cold knowing I would drop pressure at the track. When I got there I dropped them to 30/30 cold. After first session it was 37/34 rr/frt. Lowered it hot to 30/30. Then second session it was 32/31 hot. Dropped it again to 30/30 hot. My 4th session was when I pushed harder. Hot pressure was 30/30. A control rider said make it 29/29 hot. I did it to try it. Each time did make a difference. Got more feel and less squirm. Felt like the tire stuck better. The first was very noticeable.... The 37 to 30. Then less as I got closer to the mark. The control rider said he has run 26/29 on his dunlops. I was trying to slowly feel what I was doing. Ill check the presures cold when I get home tonight. Ill post pictures of the tires Keith!

What a great day, sounds like you'll be running advanced next time.
Anyone there see ya pledge-ing and ask about it?

No one asked me about it.... But I did get some strange looks while I was pledging the bike. Reason for the pictures taken!

The guys starring at you later remarked to one another-

"Dude, the guy with furniture polish on his bike passed you, twice!!"

Believe it or not a few people came up to Karen... And then to me to tell her.... And then to me how fast I was going on pretty much a stock 1k. The tech guys even made a few remarks about how clean the bike was. I said pledge was my secert! There were a few laughs! This reminded me of when captain was telling me the story about macon and his busa at the track!

Track your Busa...it's big fun. Glad you had a great day!

I ride both equally on the road, but the 1k is a better track bike. Lighter, shorter wheel base, smaller, and close to same power to weight ratio make it a easier bike to ride at the track. I could of taken the busa too... but the 1k I bought to ride at the track. Do the 1k for the track. The busa can do it, but isnt as good!

Thanks Tim for the info. I had been setting mine at 30/30 cold and just left alone, but now I may have to adjust a little...Some of the Dunlop guys told Tufbusa that they ran them all the way down into the high 20s....

TwoBrothersBusa.... I agree with you! :beerchug:I know I would have had fun with her at the track too! But I save her for the BASH and Dragon Slaying! Either way I do get out and enjoy both of them!

Keith... I finally checked them tonight. Cold 24/24. Here are some pictures of how they look! I heard from a few of the riders there too that they run high 20's on air pressure too! I just slowly went down in pressure to see if I can tell the change in the way the tire and bike felt. I am thinking that the lower tires pressure allows the tire to conform better against the surface you are trying to grip. And when the tire pressure is to high... the tire is hard and slips or squirms more due to less conforming to the surface for grip. The squirmy feeling I was feeling out in the first session. Again lowering the pressure helped reduce this feeling.

Wear them out man...I would love to have a 1K for the track! I ran the Q2s last time at Barber and ran 30 / 30 cold to heat to about 34/36 after a session. Back on the BT003RS for this track session.
