VA Spring Ride Attendance

Hey folks, Warren and I are not trying to dictate the location ... this is best that we could come up with on our own. The first two meets were in Lynchburg and the third one started in Fredericksburg and included our first group ride. We're all flexible enough to meet in a more central or southern location especially to increase the participation. Our goal was to provide a nice group ride along with the meet. So please, post up some ideas and let's make a decision soon enough for everyone in the area to plan. We also want to do a Fall Ride later in the year, so if this stays the same, maybe that one can be in a more convenient location for the max amount of people. Again ... we're not trying to dictate, just trying to take the lead and make this happen for us. Thanx ... Sage

I like the sound of Lynchburg. It allows alot of the NC riders to make it as well. But then again not too convenient for the norhtern VA / WV / D.C. riders. Although it would allow us to do the Blue Ridge Parkway. Which is awesome!!!!

I think a ride down in the williamsburg area would be spectacular... but that can always be a fall ride

My attendance will most likely be based on what time you guys are getting started sat. morning from Winchester.

I'm there wherever it is. There was some initial feelers put out a while ago, but nothing really materialized so a route was proposed, a date was set, and D.J. and I got the ball got rolling. If the concensus is that the ball should be rolling in another direction, I've got no problem at all. I just love to ride and meet up with fellow riders wherever it may be. Lets hear from you VA area riders lurking on this post. What are your thoughts?

I have to agree with War. I'm open for anything or anywhere. If general census is leaning towards southern Va, then I'll gladly put a route together. Seems we have a good date, maybe we should start a poll on the location...

I don't think we need a poll as there is no argument here ... just go ahead and put together a meeting place, times, and a group ride route, and we'll all be there. There is no doubt that a more southern location will bring more participation. You can count me in and if you decide to do a pre-ride to post up a ride report, I'll participate in that too!! I'm going to go where ever you guys want...I'm just up for the ride, meeting up with you guys again. I really don't care how long of a ride it is, as long as I can make the initial meeting place in time, and DON'T get bogged down behind a bunch of cruisers while my Busa buddies are miles ahead!!!

I'm pretty much open as well, for me anything within 2hrs of Richmond as a starting point is good for me, as long as we are talking ~9am start time for the ride or later..... I might could even pull 8am within the 2hr circle.

The BRP around Afton Mt. is always a good ride as well

Maybe we could find a loop that goes from Winchester to the BRP and back around to Winchester?

I know there's some outstanding areas we could turn off and ride in the Montebello area off the BRP and I'm sure there's other great little side roads that could be lots of fun.

While I'm sure the proposed route will be an excellent adventure, I'd bet early May on the BRP is beautiful

Again, just tossing out an idea.... I'm good with the proposed route now that I realize Winchester is only ~2-2.5hrs from Richmond

Last ride my husband and I pulled out at 6 a.m. and made it for the 9ish pull out...only bad thing was all the fog pretty much up until we got to the meeting point, but we made it...

Depends on where we are meeting (haven't really looked at the map, have I?!) Sounds like where we met in the fall...

We usually head up Rt. 17 toward I-95; no traffic and a nice run...running through Richmond for us would be out of the way a bit (I'm over on the coast)

...now, if you feel like leaving at 5:00 a.m. (ha ha), you can run up Rt. 17 with us!

We'll hammer out details when the time gets closer...

Hey all,

    Tiffani and I hated to sell the bike due to travel related to work. Now missing out on the group ride!!  

We have a couple of friends with bikes who might let us borrow one if we are back in time. So we'll keep you posted. BTW-It's hard to tell what we might show up on.

Thinking about you guys from Southern Fl. (Boca Raton @ the moment)

Sounds good to me. Of course I'm up for the winchester route as well. It's about three hours from here so i may trailer the bike. BUt if we do the Afton Mounatain / BRP I should be able to ride it. This is why I suggested a poll. Just put a few locations on there and the place with the most votes will be where we ride.

I'm up for whatever, just thought skyline drive / BRP would be a beautiful ride that time of year. Definately lots to see, plenty of places to pull off and a few good spots to eat. My sister lives in that area, I could ask her to suggest some roads for us that will give us plenty of turns, plenty of scenery and some spots to stop at if anyone is interested in doing it.

Yes, we are interested. Just post up the route details with times and we will be there. Also, let us know if you want to do a pre-ride to sort of check things out. Otherwise, we will be stuck with the Winchester ride which we have already detailed and have a pre-ride scheduled.

According to Yahoo maps it's 122.6 miles and 2 hours and 40 minutes to the meeting place; which if fine with me. Of coarse Busa time is probably 40 minutes less with detector on board. I'll keep track of postings just in case meeting place changes. Hopefully we can verify a time for the meeting soon.

Great, I can't wait for the nice warm spring ride. I road this past Saturday morning, taking off from the house when it was 20 degrees.
