Went down after 3+ years of almost daily riding.

Glad your ok man, and your right you can go over almost every scenerio in your head but throw in a little oil spot and....I cant see the pic but from what everyone else says it can be repaired.

The draggin jeans by the way, I have rode with them in all sorts of temperatures, yeah they get warm if you are in some stop and go traffic but the breath pretty well when you are moving.

That sucks but at least you are ok.The rider class tells you to always look 2-3 cars a head of you to watch for brakes.

...and I do, but there was no way I could have predicted that the bike would react the way it did to that one (of many) little darker patch of asphalt.

To me, this was never about following distance or watching ahead, I might have been slightly better off if I had been further away from the center of the lane. Rather what I took from this is that it doesn't matter how careful you are, there are scenarios you will encounter that are going to end badly, doesn't matter how safe & conscientious of a rider you think you are, so just make peace with it and be grateful for the other 99.999%.

You are aware when you grab the brake and bust your a$$ then blame it on oil, gravel, mole hills etc. "God kills a kitten".

You know that, right? :rulez:

At least the poor kitty went quickly and quietly opposed to the poor poodle you left in your car

Thank God he is OK! You know I worry about these things:rofl:

That poodle dog has a better life than most kids, I can assure you. Spoiled totally rotten to the core and still minds better than most kids.

But I'm very happy to see such things concern you. :beerchug:

Ouch. Glad to hear you made it out with only minor injuries. How is the fitment on those chinese plastics? They are a steep discount from OEM, I'm wondering why more don't use them?

Thought I'd add 2 updates to this thread:

1. This morning I was commuting on my VFR800 when a woman in a minivan skipped a stop sign and turned right out in front of me. I was in a sweeping curve and I grabbed the brakes and heard the front wheel lock. A fraction of a second after I heard that on the 'Busa, I was sliding. On the VFR, the linked system applied rear brakes automatically and stopped the front from washing out long enough for me to ease off the brakes a bit. It was still way too close for comfort and I know the purists out there hate Honda's LBS system, but consider me sold.

2. I'm ordering one of the new full Chinese fairing kits of eBay today. I see now that they are using injection molded ABS and they come with a tank cover too! When they eventually get here I'll update y'all on how they look.

I was on my way home yesterday, just got the busa inspected, only been back on the road for a week after replacing my head when the old lady in the car two ahead of me suddenly brakes without warning, the car in front of me hits the anchors as do I but alas there was an oil spot in my path and the bike was down before I even know what happened. Wasn't going that quickly but watched my new fairings being ground away as the bike slid away from me. :banghead:

My protective gear did what it was supposed to, my jeans didn't hold up so well and I got a good graze on my knee. Could have been far worse. Maybe time for some kevlar jeans.

Looks like I might be ordering a complete set of Chinese fairings this time.

What speed do you think you were actually going ?

And i like that color coordinated pipe. very nice.

When I started riding years ago some one told me that there are two kinds of riders, those who have gone down and those who will go down.

Glad you walked away with just a bit of damage to you and the bike.
