What did you do to your other vehicle

Got the front done. Only real glitch was there is a simple little latching piece that holds the coil springs into their position. It's on the top of the spring. A little 10mm bolt. Little chyts both rusted bad enough they snapped off. Took longer to drill those out than to change the entire spring and shocks. Bigger hole, bigger bolt now.

Tomorrow the rear.
Rear was a complete challenge! All shocks were original to the van. I purchased the Van in Illinois.

They were totally rusted. The mount bolt which is a biotch in normal times was a MFinBiotch when rusted. And pretty impossible to get to.

Finally got a 14" Sawzall in to its resting place and cut it off. Lots of choice words and a couple of roughly handled shocks that pretty much disintegrated from rust as they were getting abused by me, but it was conquered.

7 days is still a long time. But I needed every bit of 2 whole days.

New springs and shocks all the way around. Don't want to do this one very often!

Whew........just changed over the wheels for the summer on the Ram......boy, those winter 20" steelies sure are heavy......

The summer aluminum ones are heavy too but not near as much....I can see why there is so much difference in CF rims as opposed to stock rims on the bike, the truck handles a lot faster with the summer wheels on....

Once the wife gets home I'll switch out the rims on her Edge.....she has factory 20" summers on it and when I put them beside my truck's rims, there is at least 5 inches of difference as her tires are low profile Scorpions...

Drove my 2013 C-Max Saturday with no issues. Went to go move it a few hours later and ACC only...no start-just "stop safely now" & "See Manual" warnings. No current error codes/DTC...
HV battery would fully charge, but 12v battery was at 11v. Put it on a recondition cycle and load testing it today. If nothing happens and still no codes pop up once it has a good battery in it, then its getting scrapped.

Not really a vehicle but I greased my garden tractor (it has 18 grease points), gave it a was, changed the plugs, cleaned the air filter and changed the oil....

Getting at two of the grease points is a bit of a pain in the arse as I have to take a panel off to get at them-they are for the steering knuckles

I just went for a lil ride over the hill. Minimal traffic and the weather was great. I guess I’ll have to have dinner alone.

I ended up having the elk chops and lobster tail. Their ‘hunter’ drew a blank so they didn’t have boar baby backs or venison. They did have bison back ribs but I’m not much of a fan of bison. It’s farm raised too. Deer and wild boar aren’t. The elk was ok but not great. I would’ve preferred them w/o the sauce. I had ‘Medallions’ of elk once at a different place and they were outstanding! Lobster tail was large and in charge! Very good, dipped in buttah.

Found out that Pikes Peak may be off the menu. Apparently the 15% loss of lung volume since my lobectomy has a real effect at high elevations. Ever try inhaling really deeply but not quite getting there? Something like that. I hate inhalers but tried one and it helped. Similar symptoms as asthma sufferers I guess. Climbing from hiway 395 onto 120 into the Park you go from 6,781’ to almost 10,000’ in about ten miles. Was cool and windy, bright sun and blue sky. Oh, those six carbs really struggle gulping the thin air up high. Loses the snap, still gains speed only…slower.

I switched over to my winter tires on my pick up yesterday....

My winter rims are 20 inch steelies and I can sure feel the difference between my summer aluminum and winter steelies, the truck handles and brakes slower now...

I can see why people go to light weight rims on motorcycles......

It was time for tires on my old clunker I use for commuting so upgraded to 33’s. I’m really happy with the way it sits and, since I had added taller springs on the rear and cranked the torsion bars on the front for a 2in lift, I have no issues with the bigger tires rubbing anything.

I got new tires for my car and had it detailed. Amazing what a pro can do for a paint job. Expensive tires though @ almost $1,200. 265 and 235 19s. My last two cars had expensive tires too.

Is that for the Cadillac or are you driving something else these days?

The one before was the Caddy and before that a Corvette. Now I’m driving this, a GS350 F Sport

Nice ride! I remember when I first got my mustang and gunned it at every light. It only took one trip to the tire shop after I killed the rear tires in about 3 months and had to drop $500 plus for two 285/35/19 tires and I immediately got lighter on the gas at take off. lol

I know what you mean. The Caddy had a supercharger and really lit up the rear tires. The Lexus seldom breaks the tires loose though. I got new tires as they were six years old, had a zillion tiny cracks in the sidewalls and the tread was almost on the wear bars. The Corvette took 285/35/19s and 245/40/18s. Mime were run flats. I got a solid One G on the meter on a corner on hiway 1 one day. Damn near sprained my neck.

Sounds like fun! The mustang was definitely not a cornering machine. it only took running over a mosquito mid corner to upset the rear solid axle but, to this day, that was the most fun I’ve had on 4 wheels.

What year was the Mustang?

2013 GT with a manual.
My friend who I dubbed as "Mustang Ray" has owned several over the years.....his latest is a 2020 GT with every available option but is an automatic...he doesn't even know all the features it has and told me he doesn't really care.

He is pricing out a Dark Horse right now and will most likely get it in the spring...

He drives a '22 Challenger for a winter car before that it was his '14 Mustang......when he worked for me he'd say once in a while he'd need a "Mustang day" when it snowed too much to drive it to work......

I’ve heard good things about the newer ones but still think the previous body style looked better. I like the fact the new newer ones have the same reliable coyote motor and they got rid of the solid axle. I regret selling mine and have looked for it before. Hope to one day have another parked in the garage.
