What did you do to your other vehicle

It's cold here today (-3'C) and I took the wife's Ford Edge ST to fuel it up for her.....

Man, that thing gets pretty frisky in the cold air (unlike it's owner)......I put it in sports mode and it took off like a fighter jet.......

I guess it's been a while since I was on the Bumblebee so the Edge felt faster than normal......

Since my wife won't buy me a new F150 with a Whipple lol, I installed 2 inch front lowering springs and 2 inch lower rear front hangers on my 02 F150 Supercrew with 200K miles on her. Next is a floor shifter from an Aviator because I hate the column shifter and a nitrous kit.

Sounds fun....

Should shop around for a newer 5.0 and slap it in and put a supercharger on it....or shop around the junk yards for a low mileage GT350 or 500 engine...

That would make that 'ol gal rip the tires off.....

If I come across a good used ProCharger kit for the 5.4 2 valve motor that would be the ticket.
Lucky to have the 2 valve engine......I had the 3 valve in my FX4 and it was really problematic....I couldn't wait to get rid of that truck....

Ever have a banjo bolt loosen up? Took the Honda for a spin and as I was heading back home I came in a lil hot for some corners and had to use the front brakes. Normally I’ll use the gears to slow for corners. Ever pull the lever and have it bottom out at the grip? To survive you (me) had to instantly get over that shock and adjust quickly to use the rear brake. No crash thankfully but I wuzza leanin!
Tighten the bolt, add some brake fluid and pump all the tiny bubbles away and bleed them until I had a good lever again….whew.

(That) was a real pucker moment.

Lucky you made it home in one piece......

I'm trying to get the preliminary upkeep done on my new SUV, but it has been too cold (and wet) to do much at one time...haven't even washed it yet :( Vacuumed her out and found the window sticker from where the last owners bought her.

Replaced the rear diff fluid...drain plug was CAKED in powder! New air filter, cabin filters, and battery. Motor oil and filter this afternoon.
I think I have a leak in the tranny lines going to the radiator (dumb design) so I may have to address that now instead of Spring like I was hoping. Once it's warmer, I'll do a full transmission fluid and filter swap.

Any older vehicle with the transmission cooler built into the radiator, is something that needs fixed.
Get a new radiator, and ideally buy an aftermarket transmission cooler instead.
Quite a few vehicles, especially heavier ones with alot of use and higher mileage, are prone to get a 'strawberry milkshake', as the insides of the radiator corroded over time and allows the transmission fluid and anti-freeze to mix...which ruins your engine And your transmission...at the same time.
For a $200 radiator, and/or a $100 aftermarket transmission cooler, it's cheap insurance.

Yep. I know it's an issue, but I don't wanna be soaked in coolant when it's 20degrees outside LOL
I planned on doing the tranny bypass/cooler in the Spring, but if it is leaking now then I'll have to pony up...wet and cold now beats a $6000 trans later!
I'm going to see if I can re-use an oil or tranny cooler from one of my junk suburbans before scrapping them.

I bet that you can use a cooler from one of them.
A rubber hose and hose clamps are all that you need to connect the transmission cooler, as the transmission fluid isn't under high pressure, but just enough to circulate.
An oil cooler never hurts either, especially if it's free.
And, you won't see the radiator leak either, as the pressure from it will just blow out internally between the coolant and transmission fluid sections randomly, and it you're warning will be when the transmission stops working, and the engine will then be rapidly heating.
It's a 'better safe than sorry' mod after age and mileage.

Best part no cam phasers. My son had a 3 valved and I R&R the timings chains, guides, oil pump and the 6R80 trans too, then I told him to sell it lol.

Good advice.......

I'm glad I got rid of mine....the 5.0 I got after was twice the engine and dare I say....the Hemi I have in my truck now is better still......

Back in the day I had a Pinto with a 289, tunnel ram, 4.63 gear and one day I was working on the brakes and forgot to install the bolt for the brake lever back in. Didn't notice it until I got to the corner and the pedal went to the floor and holly cow lol.

Had a friend with a hot rod VW Bug with dual carbs he bought from a pawn shop and the only thing it didn't have was rear brakes. He come in Hot, hit the brakes and lock the front wheels up then turn wheel and release the brakes, and that Bug would make a 90-degree turn.

I gave my neighbor down the street a ride to the Ram dealership to pick up his truck after it was in for maintenance....

He has a new classic Ram and he was surprised at how much acceleration my truck has than his even though we have the same engine.

I told him I have factory 3:92 gears and it makes a difference...I also have a Diablo programmer and a Vararam intake which woke it up quite a bit....

I saw him later at the mailbox and he said his Ram felt like a dog in comparison to mine......so now he's looking into some power adders....I told him to slap in a Procharger along with an exhaust...those would wake it up.....

Just a few weeks ago I ordered 3 quarts of diff oil for my truck from Walmart online saving 4 bucks a bottle each with same day delivery with no charges. Only 2 showed up and the 3rd showed up 5 days later from Florida and I live in Texas lol. When I ordered them, they said they had 6 of them in stock.

There was a friend of my dad's back in the day who was a wizard with VW bugs......he often either made dune buggies out of them, restored them to original or rodded them.....

His son had one in high school and it was an original, slow bug.....his dad got hold of it and redid the entire suspension and did the motor up using Porsche parts.......I'm not real sure as to what he did to it but that bug wasn't the same old boring thing it once was.......it would rip the back tires right off it if you wanted it to......

He embarrassed a lot of cars with that thing....

I ran into his dad years ago when he was in his late '70s and he had a special dune buggy he made....I think he said it was punching out over 600 hp...it sounded ferocious and when he went down the beach, he ripped it and the rooster tails coming off the back tires were pretty impressive.....

His name was "Ernie Appel"....what a guy......I remember he bought a property with an old barn on it, he built his house using the old barn boards and when he was done, it was a beautiful house....

My Son bought the first twin turbo Toyota Tundra here in Abilene and that truck can get up a go. He's also on the list to get a free engine due to the front main bearing destroying the engine around 30K miles.

I owned a Ram 4x4 truck back in the 80's and that 318 engine would max out 85mph with the big tires on it. It was fun backing up into Tampa Bay sitting in the bed drinking beer watching the girl's go bye.

I do like the looks of the New Ram's.

A friend of mine was a heavy diesel mechanic in my old unit and drives a Raptor...

He was on the waiting list for the Tundra TRD Pro twin turbo but they took too long so he went and got a new Raptor...

Two weeks after he got it, who calls? Toyota telling him his Tundra has arrived....

He likes his Raptor......he was that guy that swore he'd never get anything turbocharged after changing enough of them in the military.....

Now he's on the list for a Raptor R....

What's shocking is the price they want for these things......
