Im always pulling in the clutch on the highway to see if Im in final gear, just a habit, Im looking into getting one , why not

I would have preferred they used the space for a digital speedo display, which is what I thought it was gonna be originally on the gen2, kinda disapointing. Would've been a little easier for at a glance speed when cruisin around tryin to obey the law, or really flyin and wonderin just how good of a job ur doin breakin it! (and yes, I know, they read fast the faster u go)

I am a newbie rider so it would be a nice addition; although I ride an SV not a Busa. I am learning to shift through "feel" and if that makes any sense? ??? I do love that light that shows me when I am in neutral; it is like a small sense of "okay 1st gear is just a click down". Although in MSF class one of the first things they tried to instill was that you can not always rely on the neutral indicator light.

Dont have one or realy need one.Just one more distraction.I do like having a fuel gauge. My Warrior does not and I keep track of milage on trip meter for when I need fuel. The low fuel light is only good for around 10-20 miles. Less the harder you twist the right hand.If I were given one i would use it.

I like having the gear indicator [GI-PRO] as I ride a few different bikes.
79 4speed Hd- I try to shift into 5th every once in a while
05 Concours 6speed- I always try to shift into 7th be nice to have a indicator on this
86 VFR 6speed - probibly never put it in 6th as it runs better at Hi revs
03 busa 6speed- always forgot to shift into 6th on the hiway- so I have a GI pro now
75 H1 5speed- Never sees 5th as ya have to keep revs 5-6k+ for any power
I'm older and the 70's took their toll:cheerleader:

I had the Gen I K4 and found myself rolling down the interstate in 5th doing 70mph or so for miles at a time. I concur that gear selection doesn't really matter on a Busa, but I ride the insterstate daily (52miles round trip) The GI on my K9 is nice on fuel economy. Other than that, I shift based on the feel of the bike and how aggresive I am trying to ride.

Got the GiPro W/ATRE from Pashnit and would not imagine riding without it anymore.... no more 7th shift, always know witch gear I'm in while entering twisties etc... can concentrate on the road instead of remembering witch gear I'm in even if I had no problems at all without it, I prefer the visual thing of it!!!

I didnt vote because you dont have an option for my opinion. I dont use it when riding in the twisties, I rely on the engine speed and feel of the bike. I use it when just tooling around town.
I did not vote either for the same reason the guy i quoted above.

I would trade the gear indicator for an ACCURATE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER. Is this too much to ask? Come on Suzuki...... come out with a new gage cluster. Digital speedometers are easier to see and interpret at a glance. Make it retro fit previous models. Oh and I wanna keep my arms and legs when I buy it.

I paid 10 grand for my gear shift indicator...the Busa came as an add on~!~

No need for it when your actually riding...but nice when you're cruising.

I installed a gear indicator early on but find that I don't use it much on the open road anymore. I do glance at it on the track because I'm running at higher rpm's than I would on the street and I don't have as good a feel for what gear I'm in, especially at the end of high speed straightaways.

I do like to know what gear I'm in when approaching 90 degree right hand turns, however. I like to take them in second gear, not first. First gear has too much torque for me when turning.

While a gear indicator is not mandatory, it is a sweet addition. We all rode for years without such luxury. I may be getting old with loss of short term memory but if I'm riding twisties, I will forget which gear I'm in after afew turns. I just can't keep up with it. When the throttle is closed and down shifting I reach a point where I ask myself, did I shift two or three times in the last corner? Am I now in 1st or 2nd gear?

I find myself using the gear indicator quite often on the track. I think most of you NA sayers will eventually learn to appreciate that little luxury! :beerchug:

I often find myself searching for that "7th gear" after I've been stuck in slow moving traffic for and extended period and then get a break out. Other than that, I'm usually pretty good about knowing what gear I'm in. Every gear indicator I see seems to be going for $80+ which I think is pretty rediculous for what it is. I would be willing to buy one just to have it if they were available for under $50.

Iam not sure what you guys are talking about ! What gear do you care about while on the Track, it's RPM and Control, NOT Gear position. You should be riding by using the gearing not WHAT gear your in. And around town, well, it's the same, RPM and Speed not gear selection. If your to high or to low at the speed your at, whether or not your on the track or road, THEN JUST SHIFT up or down  . Really kinda Simple !!! But, I'am just a kinda simple type of Guy

But, sure with everybody wanting as much info as they can get, (in a riding associtation I compete in, some of the guys have 2 GPS's, 3 stop watches or timers and Weather indicators - LOTS to look at while riding which doesn't change what your doing or where your going at all ) a gear indicator is OK. Just something else to distract or break. I kinda like less is Best and allowing the ride to be More Fun. :cheerleader:
