What the hell Egypt?.....

Look at the big picture. Do you wonder why this is happening now? World food cost are at an all time high and people in foreign lands often feel the squeeze first. When people don't get enough food, they look at their current leadership differently. The people in Egypt live on a couple of dollars a day and being unemployed is typical. This is a prime situation for a political uprising. HELLO AMERICA.... Weren't we a huge exporter of grain and wheat to Egypt just 1 year ago?? Why did we stop?? Why are our farmers suddenly producing so much corn instead ?? ETHANOL !!! Our heaven sent renewable resource !!! Thanks Obama !!!

In 2006 42% were disatisfied with the system and their leader, this gradually increased to 69% last year.

Can't blame Obama for this one.

Mubarak squandered billions on palaces, a pampered military and an inner circle of family and business cronies while ignoring the citizens' most basic needs.

Can't blame Obama for this either.

It's a cruel country for the 16 million who eke out a life on less than $2 a day. Forty million don't know even how to read, and those who do, legions of dynamic young people who worked hard to get an education, find there's nowhere to use it.

Can't blame Obama for that either, this did not happen over a couple of years.

Today is the "Day of Leaving", as the anti-president call it. They want to bring the whole gov down! News here have nothing else than this story!

The military is gonna rule it for awhile, which is pretty well respected in Egypt.

WHAT NONE OF YOU SEEM TO REALIZE IS THAT CERTAIN PLACES AND CERTAIN COUNTRIES CAN ONLY BE RUN BY DICTATORSHIPS.

Democracy is absolutely not for all to possess or wield. Anarchy and civil war most often results in some countries that do not have an authoritarian style govt.
This is not an advocation for fascism or communism but just a statement that some folks in some places need to be told what to do it and where.

Look at Iraq or should I say Babylonia? One if if not the oldest country on earth. Next to Baghdad only my families city of Damascus has been constantly inhabited for longer.
5000 years , yes 5000 years these two cities have been going back and forth and in and out. It will always and forever be an area divided by tribes and blood feuds.
Noting will ever change that. And when folks start to criticize these areas my only simple question is after only around 250 years how and what do you think our cities will look after 5000 years?
What will New York city look like in the year 7011 ?
How about Washington DC? Anybody actually think the White House or any of our revered monuments will still be in good shape 5000 years from now?
Or will Archaeologists be digging in our ancient ruins ?

Well, it looks like Mubarak has stepped down: Mubarak Quits - Politics & Gov't - Israel News - Israel National News

Now The Muslim Brotherhood can turn Egypt into another Iran.

Once again it seems you cannot believe all you hear on CNN .
Mubarak is not stepping down and doesn't seem to have any plans on doing so.
So now the news orgs are backtracking saying 'well maybe this and maybe that'
They don't have a clue.

I still feel we are on the verge of a bloody crackdown but deeply hope it doesn't happen .

Oh, I agree. I actually don't believe in Democracy, since that's what got Hitler into power.

I have no problem with dictatorships, I'm just verrrrrry concerned about the type of dictatorship Egypt will end up with. - They might have "elections", but they'll be rigged by The Muslim Brotherhood. If those maniacs get into power, we're looking at another Iran.
I feel sorry for the Iranian people, too. Many of them did not want the Shah to go.

Can you honestly say that you believe the American election system is still honest and in no way has any corruption ?

Hahaha!!!

Of course not! - Look at all of those dead people who keep voting for Democrats...

We always like to criticize other countries and their corruptions but most often especially in Egypts case they had very good teachers, us !

True, true.

But you have to admit, it's going to be a huge problem if (when) The Muslim Brotherhood takes over. - They'll try to start another war with Israel...and Israel has nukes.

Age old argument. Whether or not if left alone our 'enemies' would still strive for conflict with us. Some think no matter what they wake up and daily plot against us whilst others feel that if things were toned down and we basically left them alone they would reciprocate and do the same.

Very true Blanca, definitly democracy not for ME countries, look at Lebanon as an example!

as has been said by many, that have left Egypt.....Mubarak will only leave power, in a coffin.

I honestly could care little if the "Muslim Brotherhood" eventually wins an election there. The people will not accept a strict muslim gov. I don't see the people throw out one dictator, only to sit by and accept another one. however it may happen to take form.

PS: Maybe the US needs to step aside, stop trying to broker peace......let the Israeli's kick the crap out everybody. So that the Anti- Israel countries can be put back in place, just abit. We cannot broker peace, they (middle east countries) need to do it themselves.

I think that's what Jimmy Carter said about Khomeini.

If The Muslim Brotherhood takes over, Egypt will go up in flames. - Those maniacs do not tolerate any dissent/opposition. Anyone who stands against them will be murdered, just like what happened in Iran.

I feel sorry for the Coptic population of Egypt. I hope someone offers them a refuge.

Israel may have nukes we gave them, they may have a more modern equipped military but they are still a very small amount of people in a sea of ones who do not like them. The Arabs well many of them would have no problem sacrificing millions to achieve the end of Israel and return of Palestine.
If the USA and the rest of the world did as you say I don't think the end would bode well for Israel.

I can understand the people in Egypt getting excited over this but....really?

Now a huge power vacuum will occur in which the military will instill curfew and round others up. It will be worse before it gets better.
