I am not up with your security concerns but jeez. Do you guys actually consider a handgun as an essential item? It has me intrigued. It is none of my business what you guys do but I can't figure out if you are scared or have some sort of personality defect. What good could possibly come out of it? Flame me at will if required but chuck your reason in there too. This is one topic I could never figure out. Flame on! Oh, and good luck at the bash, wish I could be there to see all your machines in real life.

O.k., I will try and explain MY reason for possibly bringing my weapon. Yes, I do consider my weapon an essential item. I am neither scared nor have a personality defect. I realize that I am responsible for my safety, no one else is. The law enforcement community can not be expected to protect everybody at all times. In this day & age of thugs, road rage, car jacking, mugging, blah, blah, blah, you really need to be able to protect yourself and your family at any given time. I don't illegally carry a concealed weapon. I have a permit. I've met all the requirements to obtain one. I grew up around firearms and I know their power and I respect that. I took a professional NRA safety course, not the gun show course, just for a different perspective. Most people with permits take the responsibilty serious. I know I do. Oh well, my $.02.

Not sure what it's like where you live, KennyMac, but pick up and read the local paper sometime~ We (the State of FL) just had to send another sick fug to death row the other day~ You never know who's gonna snap at any given time~ I've got my permit for that very reason~ To protect myself, my family, and anybody unable to protect themselves~ If I see some sick fug trying to abduct you.. I could call 911 and wait to see if law inforcment can save you before you loose your arse cherry... or I could inforce my right to stop a felony in progress and pop a cap in the abductor without hesitation... and you could thank me later for saving your virgin arse~

I didn't pose the question to start some sort of fight here. There is a couple of fundamental differences between our cultures. I just couldn't understand why the need to bear arms against your brothers is so accepted but I take your points on board. I would like you to lay off the language though, I have been serving for almost twenty years in places like Somalia, Rwanda, Timor and a stint in Afghanistan where I led part of an SASR patrol that pulled a number of your guys out of a very serious situation. So your virgin arse comment is not appropriate or required. Sorry for the thread jack, I'm sorry and disappointed that I even asked.
