What To Wear This Summer

I have a 50' extension cord and there is power in all the rooms. If we need to we can pull out this bad boy. 5500 watts will power your gear!

Icon Mesh jacket, And some heavy duty riding jeans, at the very least. I too learned the hard way, for me now if its too hot to wear gear its too hot to ride.

Dear Hal

That's great!

I have four or five twenty-five-foot extension cords. I'm sure your generator will have us well covered in case the extension cords won't reach (or overload the circuits).

I'm pretty sure we can make it. All Becky has to do is find a sub, and she has plenty of time to find one. Plus, she has a great (second grade) class this year, and the subs love subbing for her.

Now, I just hope we don't get rained on! 'Busas can ride in the rain, but I'm pretty sure my studio strobes won't work to well in it!

As my son GSXTacy said, we arrive on Wednesday afternoon. Please don't feel pressured into giving me an answer, we would all like to have you join us if you can. We know if you come, you will want to make it every year. Heck, if you ride your bike back Sat. afternoon, some of us may just ride down that way with you to explore some new roads. What route would you take ?
I'll be rolling in with the GSXcite crew on Wednesday as well.

We could ask Reba's daughter, but she is not into bikes as much as Reba.

I just forgot what I was gonna really say now. O well. Jaddie, this is great you get to come, I hope Becky is looking forward to it too.

We're lucky to have you as part of the family and I can't wait to meet you in person. Your a good guy drive safe!

I'm sure I'll get flack on this, but I do not wear leather in the summer, I find it too warm. I do however, always wear my Joe Rocket jacket (around $225), with integrated back, shoulder and elbow protection. I find it cooler than leather but still feel protected.

I also always ware my full face helmet, boots and at a minimum, jeans.
Hey that's my jacket! I can't recommend it enough. It provides ample protection for an easy fall, breathes very well, and has nice vents and pockets.. even an mp3 player pocket with a headphone slot up near the neck. I love this jacket and never ride without it (except in winter, i go to a heavy duty leather jacket). I ride with some pretty sturdy gloves, with solid plastic thick knuckles. I ride with jeans 90% of the time.. but I know they provide little, if any, protection when falling. I am looking at all the different jeans with kevlar lined patches sewn in, and will probabyl purchase a pair when I get home.

Jaddie,
I know these Georgia summers suck.. but shorts and t shirt are just taking too big a chance. I always ride with jacket.. if it's stupid hot outside.. i'll unzip the jacket and get a nice breeze in. After you take one good fall, you'll never mind sweating during the summer again.

PS - I should be permanently in Ga around the end of April after the Bash, if you get a chance we'll have to take a weekend up to the tail when you're free (maybe after the wife has the baby?).

Stay safe,
~kyle

Jaddie, here is a way for it to work. Come up on your busa on Thursday during the day, with your wife following you. Do a couple of the rides Thursday and Friday, and spend some time getting to know everyone at the cookout in the evening. Offset your expenses taking photos of members bikes in the afternoon and evening, (also give you a way to charge off expenses for business travel). Go to the photo shoot at the dam with ALL the members Saturday morning, then head home in the car for your photo shoot and come back after you finish if you want to be there for Sat. night, or follow your wife home on the busa and stay at home after the shoot. I travel 2,000 miles round trip for this event and it is worth every mile I drive. Because of the drive we leave after a short ride on Sunday AM as do most of the members. What ya think about them apples?

Dear Hal

I'm thinking about "them apples."

My wife is positive about it, but she wants to see if she can get a substitute teacher for Friday, April 25. Without my wife's coming, I won't have any photo gear with me. But she probably can find a sub.

Rides on Thursday? I thought the Bash didn't begin until Friday.

I might ride up by myself early Thursday and let Becky drive up Thursday night. The background stand, backdrop, clamps, lighting equipment, camera, and lenses would be in her car.

This sounds good to me, but give me until late Monday afternoon to give you a definite answer.

We'd be coming home mid-day Saturday for the late-afternoon prom shoot.

I'm getting more excited as I think about this. I appreciate your suggestion. It's a damned good one!

I bet Becky can find a sub!

Are you going to be there Thursday?

--Jaddie
Jaddie,

If you decide you're going to go, we already have a small group (me on my bike, Jody(busafan), and my buddy tony in his Opel Gt riding up from somewhere around Atlanta together. We'd be leaving Thursday right around noon-time. Let us know if you want in.. we'll probably get together for lunch by the time the Tampa people make it towards Atlanta.. should put us in Robbinsville NLT 5pm.
RideUp

Hope you can make it, what school does your wife teach at? I might know one of the subs there.. (i use to date sub-teachers a lot for some reason).

If y'all are serious about the model, I have some friends that would probably do it
smile.gif

Jaddie,
