I searched oil and nothing came up so I thought I'd ask as its time for an oil change. What oil is everyone using and why? Anyone using synthetic?

OK, I had the goal in mind of being a pain. I was going to post up the thousands of threads already in existence with the word oil. To my surprise I didn't find anything. I guess I'm not smart enough to use the search feature.

I would venture to say the majority use synthetic oil. I could be wrong...

I think nothing came up when you search for "oil" because there are to many topics that conatin the term "oil"

I use synthetic
tounge.gif
, and NO I don't share the belief it's a Better Oil
winkold.gif
. With Synthetic or Regular Premium Oil, both get changed with a New Filter EVERY 3,000 miles. In my Ducati's, I didn't notice
sadnews.gif
any real change. BUT, in the Busa, well, it REVs ALOT quicker and smoother and I get about 1 mile per gal more on my gas range. Will I keep it
winkold.gif
, YES, because the engine seems to run quieter and easier and the shifting is smooooooooother with Synthetic. Just seems better all around

I dont know how many miles you have but since 24000 miles I change my oils every 4000 mi with and filter change every other. I thought that how the manual suggested. I could be wrong?

I just never saw the reason for putting NEW Oil into a Dirty filter
winkold.gif
, so that's why I change both. I don't want the dirty (dust filled where I live and ride) to contaminate the New Oil. And every 3,000 miles, well
whistling.gif
, I do that on ALL my bikes so I don't have to remember any different mileage changes for different bikes. Only thing I would disagree with in the Manual (OK I know I ALWAYS say
shutup.gif
," The Guy who designed the Engine Knows more than I do" !!! But I DON'T care on this one
banghead.gif
)  is the filter change, if it's every other. I just think
sadnews.gif
, if your going to change to NEW Oil, then put it through a NEW Filter.
