Who can remove viruses and trojans?

o ya...I use AV Etrust EZ , do the odd ad-aware look see, the occational spybot search an' destroy(its pretty limited thou these days...sorta bores me), I'll kick in some panda too.

I believe it has a lot to do with yer connection.(personal opinion)

When I was on cable,I caught every fuggin thing that came down the pike.

Now with my own line...nothing. The usual miners an such,but nothing major. The ISP I use now,just seems to be on top of things a little beeter. When they discover a virus and its travelling down port 32 say...they just shut down 32 for a bit,kill it,good to go. Super fast,never had an' interuption in service.

have a virus free 1...RSD.

I've used AVG for years with no problems. Easy to use and daily virus definition updates all for free is hard to beat.

you could also try this...

 Infected are:
* C:\WINDOWS\system32\alt.exe
* C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll

First, Ctrl + Alt + Suppr
Kill process -> alt.exe
Now, you can try to delete -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\alt.exe

Click Start > Execute > REGEDIT
Then press F3 and find string: browsela

You should have something like ...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\....

Double-click on the key "browsela" and remove string "C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll" (leave blank)
Close REGEDIT -> Reboot -> normally browsela.dll will be not attach to a current process in the next session.
Now you can delete file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\browsela.dll
<span style='font-size:15pt;line-height:100%'>First, Ctrl + Alt + Suppr</span>

It depends what are you using your computer for... For net surfing... Mac is cool.
I hate luck of right button tho...

They build very nice and way overpriced. For the same money I can build Athlon 64 dual core and it would be 10 times faster... with more memory and faster drived/raids.

Nobody make monitors better then Mac. Even SG monitors not as good anymore...

I am so glad I use a Mac!!!

[start quote] I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is. [end quote]

What kind of pussy shid is that? Cant ya pick one? Yer willing to live yer whole life based something which you don't totally believe in....JUST IN CASE.

Apple (Mac OS X) does support right mouse button. I was a Windows man from 1987 until four years ago. Yes, you can get Windows machines for a lot less money but I don't care. I'm glad I switched!

I still have and support two Windows machines in my house.. they belong to my wife and kids. All hooked up to a wireless network.

I use my Mac with Final Cut Pro for video editing. I don't like Windows editing programs.

One more thing.... Major software companies dropping Mac platform....
Video, 3D, Macromedia, Alias/Wavefront, Autodesk don`t have plans to support Macs anymore.... even Adobe...

What is Mac going to be good for?

Net surfing..... IPODs ? Monitors?

Don`t get me wrong... I loved Macs 10 years ago...
I still don`t like MS....

But without publishing/multimedia applications Macs useless.
No more reasons paying 3K for MacIntosh...

Out of the box.... Yes Macs much better, they have BASIC software to do anything.

Final Cut Pro?

No I was talking about film and 3d editing...

BTW. Windows editing program does not exist , plain joke...

No more After F/X for macs, In Design, CS`s... Macromedia dropped Macs... means no more web design...

It`s just sad , Big Billy has it all now.....

BTW. I bought Mac 23 inch monitor as soon as I can connect it to the PC... I love it...
I have 2 IPODS... I love them as well.

I also apologies if Macs owners take my remarks as personal attack. I was not bashing Macs.. I loved them!

So... after all powder might not be chemically neutral and I inhale too much...

I like Norton, I just don't like the pricing they have come up with lately. It's allways been effective for me. Simple, clean, whats not to like aside from pricing?
I haven't checked them out THIS year becuause we quit using them altogether. The last 3 big [ I mean REALLY big] corporate viruses, like Code Red, Symantec was 2-3 days late releasing the update. Trend Micro had it ready for download within hours the same day. Another IT associate of my also noticed that on his Norton systems. We compare notes a lot but make seperate conclusions first. It might be better now, I haven't used it, I just dont trust it now. Trend was written up for this last WMF thingy but that is not REALLY a major threat like the bigger ones.

Norton is probably just fine for average users. I would not trust my system to it personally.

Thanks for all the responses... I haven't gotten it yet... Been stuck with work all weekend. The busy life of a Realtor. Going to tackle it on monday with all of your suggestions... Went to the Macfee forums and there are quite a few people that have this bastid on their computers and so far Macfee can't get rid of it... It respawns on startup. It is hidden as a program file so deletion is hard because it forces the puter to restart which in turn respawns the trojan. Going to go through all of your responses and suggestion late tonight and work on it! Have to tell you it was fun trying to delete the svchost.exe file and then watching it respawn as the computer gave me a count down to shut off... It was like trying to defuse a bomb... My wife was screaming cut the blue wire.. cut the blue wire... I finally had to tell her she wasn't funny:p And to go away. Will update all you very fine people later tonight or monday! This is why I love this site! I get more help here then I do from the bastids that sell the anitvirus software. Sincere thanks!
Eric

when you get a cracked block and your pistons have melted, it's just time to start over. wase too long trying to but duct tape over it. sometimes, reformatting is the best solution. make a list of the software you use and want to reinstall, make sure you have those disks, burn your important files to cd, boot on your XP disk and it practaclly installs it self. answer like 3 questions and the rest is automatic. good luck. we reformate on viruses that take too long to remove
