Who can remove viruses and trojans?

When you reformat, dont be alarmed if the virus is still there, sometimes it takes more than one reformat to remove it.Dont ask how I know this.:)

thats where a program called KillDISC comes in handy...

it will scape a hard drive so clean that even the FBI won't be able to retrieve anything.

When you reformat a drive apparatly some computer experts can dig down as far back as 5 or 6 formats.

Don't ask me how I know this

I've always wanted to visit a virus museum.

But seriously, out of the oh, 28 Viruses they had there, some from as far back as 1985, none are compatible with OSX.  I guess I'm on the winning team.  Incompatible with viruses since 2001.

But seriously, I did a double-take when I saw how many viruses there were for Winblows, and that was in 2000.  I can't imagine what that number looks like now.

Oh yeah, PM'd you my e-mail, go ahead and send those viruses. I'm always looking for a good time with bits of old code. I had a lot of fun with "Brain" when I found a copy of it way back in '95.

I use Norton Anti-virus and Norton Firewall. In 10 years I've never had a problem. You can boot from the Norton disc and follow the on screen instructions. I've never had to use it, and I've always wondered what it would do with a new virus, since the definitions on the disc are out of date.

I am so glad I use a Mac!!!

Your right! With OSX you don't get viruses, you get "ROOT KITS"!!! It is an Open BSD system underneeth. It will respond to a null sled attack, and root kit, just like a Solaris box. Send me you public IP and I'll show you how! Someone is probably using you Mac right now to do remote DOS (Denial Of Service) attacks on US companies!

Remember: "If it was made buy humans, it can be broken by humans"

Public IP? HA! You wish it was that easy. Public IP -> Primary NAT IP -> Secondary NAT IP. I've made it very hard to get at my machines.

Besides, its not my public IP. I grab mine from my neighbors wireless broadband connection.

I do network securtiy for a living. So if you can abuse my network, shame on me. If your there long enough, I will find you and shut you down, atleast from my network.

That is what I do for a living too...

Every network could be abused and you know that, right?

guys in my neighborhood knows that and asking me about weird things happening on their machines...

BTW. I`m not doing anything destructive..

Then I must not be on your network, because this one has been without WEP, MAC addy filtering, and has been broadcasting the default name for over a year now.

I won't tell them if you won't.

Finally have it removed... A buddy used somefunky little program defkill or something like that and went through everything and removed anything that looked suspicious. My laptop went through for IT guys before my nerdy friend got his hands on it... an hour later gone. Thanks to all for the advice.

I didn't have time to read this whole thread, but if you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser, and dump I/E you wont half of these spyware/malware B.S.
