Who Rode Today?

I honestly don't know how a bike making over 800 hp would be streetable.....

Hurry up and get this thing done so we can see it.......it's been quite a few years and we obviously don't have the patience you have....
The frame will is at DAS and is beeing modded as I speak. I will not be driving it to CA. It will need new valve springs every yesr and check the motor every year too. I will also change the gearing from 20 -35. to 18 -43. I will only run 6 to 10 lbs of boost too.

Hi. Yes I have. Guy's is like Bill Werner's bike. Mine will be 100% street legal. I will have more HP. than both. Now if I can put all the HP to ground that we will have to see. My aero will not be as good. So again we will have to see what goes down. I think that I will go between 270 to 280. The main problem will be spinning the rear. Eric at Das went 262 to 268 on an old Gxsr with a busa body and the long aero tail his rear wheel speed was 310. So it will be very hard to push a street bike throught the air at thoes speeds.

I think he set the record for a stock bodied Busa @ 257+ mph. He reminds of Eddie Hill. In addition to all his fast cars (he told me he’s had 14 Corvettes) and his drag boat and motorcycle racing history along with his champion NHRA top fuel history, he drove a BiTurbo Mercedes and put a (larger) supercharger on his Ford GT40…@ 80 years old. They both luuuuuuuv speed.

Hi. Saw vid on maybe one of his bikes and it looked like Guy Caputo and Bill Werners bikes. I do not know if he raced a stock body bike.

I went into the city today and took an extended ride on the way back. At one point, after overtaking some cars and trucks on a section of Highway I never travel I saw a sign warning of average speed radar cameras. that was nice of them, since I took note and just 500m up the road was the "second" set. I pulled over for 4 minutes and stretched my legs ;)
Then later, traveling along a familiar road I took this detour.

Boys will be boys I suppose but when I was young we just threw rocks at phone boxes. This seems a little over the top to me. And how long has it been laying there?

I see cop tape on that thing....crazy that they'd just leave it out there and not have it towed away.....

I got in 117 miles Thursday and 153 miles today on the Honda. Turned over 41,000 which is nearly 8,000 since I got it last March 10th. Weather was bright and clear but very chilly. Next up in rotation is the Busa which will be 19 in 17 days and is approaching 85,000 Smiles. Anyone else get out?

Elvis liked white bikes and so do I.

I rode around the block after I got the axle put back in.

A (whole) block? :) Thought of you today when a large herd of Hawgs rode by while I was at my usual stopping place atop the hill where this pic was taken. Love their sound. When I pulled up about six go fasters were taking a break. S1000RRs, a GSX1000 R? and a gorgeous V4 Panigale. Very trick suspension. All had Brembos although the calipers weren’t identical. We were all complaining about the sand on the road. Apparently it got cold enough that our hiway dept (CalTrans) decided it was wise to sand the road surface to help if it iced up. Not just on the shady damp sections either, every corner was sketchy on two wheels. Not fun! CA. doesn’t use salt thankfully but that sand is awful! First time I’ve seen it on this section of hiway 49.

And of course my Honda put them all to shame… Only a couple knew what it was and no one could believe how old it is. They were all under 25 or so. I did a loop and ended back up there. All the bikes were gone and just one car was there, a dark red 71 Chevelle SS454 convertible! Niiiice car.

Oh, see my new Texas helmet? I kept it pointed towards the sun so it will warm my ears when I leave.

Got out on the Gen3 today on my usual haunt of our local fun spot. Lots of cops out today so I kept it kinda chill. Had a kid in a Mustang try and pull away but quickly pulled over and waved me by as if I needed his help going around him lol. I did get out of sight tho because we all know mustangs are known crowd killers! The bikes love this cooler air for sure!

I left home at 6:50am today and rode 240kms over the Alps to the West Coast town, Barrytown to see an old friend and to check his K13000 BMW brakes for him.
He has a warped rear brake rotor with scorch marks on it from overheating.
Pretty sure the caliper piston is stuck and dragging.
The weather over the mountain pass was beautiful, light winds and blue sky, 28degC when returning home.
Was a great day with no issues, I took my V Strom. My Busa was not ready for a 500km journey. Getting the rims ready for painting at present.
No pics sorry folks, was way too busy riding and working lol.

Know that feeling. I usually only take pix when I stop for a smoke. I went out through the backroads for a couple of hours today and stopped at a general store for a drink. There was a yuppie bakery two doors down (Harrisville) but I steer clear of those pretentious dives. You meet a better class of rider at the little unassuming stores. There was a guy there finishing a burger, he was covered in bandages and as it turns out was a big time old school racer type and motorcycle mechanic with a shed with 20 bikes in it. He's a dirt rider too and had dropped his honda crf 450, or whatever it was, on a slippery dirt road up in the back blocks and had come out of it bad. Broken ribs (broken, not fractured) and internal injuries, dislocated thumb etc etc. Bike came off with hardly a scratch as it turned out? He wasn't a happy camper because of all the injuries but mostly because he couldn't ride for months, poor bastard.

We had a good long chat about bikes and he showed me pix of his Yamaha tdm 850 twin with a 270-degree crank and stock brembo brakes. An old bike from the late 1980's. It was a sport tourer, with some special engine and gearbox arrangement that allowed the engine to be shorter and hence the wheelbase too. He was in the process of painting his rims Gold. It looked sweet! I forwent my drink and after half an hour we went our separate ways, just a couple of old motorcycle fanatics meeting by chance and sharing our stories.

His Yamaha (just a web pic) I think BB might like it :)

Wow! Quite the story and chancemeet up!
Funny thing is, I’m quite familiar with the TDM850 Yamahoohaa.
My neighbour has one, he bought it as a POS and overhauled the motor, brakes, and various other bits and pieces… and it’s still a POS lmao. Rough bodywork.
It’s a very early attempt at an ‘Adventure bike’ by Yamaha, weighs a ton, very high centre of gravity and horrible handling.
Then I know another guy that has one and it’s very tidy, he babies it, hardly ever rides it.
Then there’s another mate who has the TRX850 and that is a sport bike from 1992, lovely wee bike, great chassis set up and quite light, with a great engine… same as the TDM.
Thanks for sharing your day… one thing, you said you stopped for a smoke, is that even still a thing??
Took me back 30 years when I used to do the same thing lol.

Oh yeah, 1/5 of the population here smokes, but they are all mostly embarrassed by it and do it hidden around corners out of sight. The 2022-23 National Drug Strategy Household Survey found the smoking rate among adults was 11.1%. But a hell of a lot of people don't admit to it, and a hell of lot of smokers now buy the black market smokes brought in from SE Asia. You go to one of those smoke shops, and they are literally everywhere, and you'll pay 1/3 the price you would in the supermarket. The government has no record of those cash transactions so they never enter the statistics.

I remember watching episodes of the X-files where they denigrated that guy they called "Cancer Man" There has been a big public propaganda campaign to portray smokes as evil bastards and it's mostly worked, but only is Western nations. Go to China, India, Russia and you'll find very different "Attitudes" From a health perspective it's very interesting to look around with your eyes, I have known many smokers who were in their 80's, but never have I met a big fat bastard in their 80's. That tells me that obesity and heart issues kill people off younger than smoking. My brother was a big Bundy rum and coke drinker, he quit smoking in this early 40's but died at 62 from pancreatic cancer. Coke in large volumes is probably more dangerous :D

The only difference is people can eat and drink around me as much as they like and i don't really care.
But smoke around me and you're directly affecting me and my health without my consent.

Suppose that many would still smoke if a pack cost $14.99 like they do here?

I got in a short 105 mile loop today and it was chilly! However, I tried my new heated gloves and they work great! Looking thru TEMU, the Chinese Amazon lol, they must’ve had dozens of heated gloves in all price ranges. I picked a cheap pair to try. They all pretty much had the same coverage despite the price differences. All have rechargeable lithium batteries that fit in the rear of the gauntlet. They probably aren’t as good protection wise if I were to go down but they’re certainly warm with three settings. TEMU has such a friendly return policy similar to Amazon that I figured I’d return them if they were junk. In my 2&1/2 hour run today they kept my hands perfectly warm.
