If we offered social networking, blogging, and wiki that every "How to" on a busa documented where you could edit and add your comments would you use it?

I would like to know what a reputation is and how I got one.
Social networking would be cool.

i would just like to know why i cant seem to post a thread, i either am not doing it correctly or im stupid, or both

Yes, probably. Don't know much about the social networking, but could learn pretty quick. Don't have much to blog about but a wikipedia type "how to" would be useful for the occasional :wtf: that comes up with the bike.

The DIY WIKI might be nice but is there a way to have some oversight on it? some of the DIY threads get so convoluted that you can not follow them and then there are 13 people that say the same thing.. Just was not sure how WIKI edits worked in the wild..

Also, methods a shop can use are impractical for a home body.. those issues really need addressed to help the guys out.. (IE impact wrench for front sprocket removal, breaker bar is not a viable option etc) hate to see a guy trash parts due to things like that..

I would like a Hot Key that will shoot a lighting bolt out of another choosen members USB Port and light 'em up when I think they need it. :poke: Of course, I'll need a shield too, so they can't return the favor.

If it is going to cost money to do it I wouldn't. People might say that they will use it, but I think it would end up just like the "auction" thing did. Just my opinion. :beerchug:

I do . I do. .............:cheerleader::cheerleader:

And then pleaae have someone send me a memo about it.

Via my valid registered E-mail addy.:rulez:

I think that a properly ran Wiki-busa would add to the knowledge value, which would definately improve rankings and traffic! you just have to make sure that all the users understand the :rulez:

I'm already working on that one

I think Wiki would be great Cap. I'd really like it though if I could chose a mobile site view or desktop site view of the oRg. The way it's set up now it automatically detects my settings. I hate thie mobile site view. If I use opera mobile It lets me view the site normally, or if I change my browser settings it shows me the mobile view. Now I'm using opera mini, and no matter what settings I change I always get the mobile site.

Thanks Cap.

Oh yeah I think an embedded link to a frapper map would be great too. The map we use to see who lives where isn't very used.

I inititially voted YES because I thought the WIKI thing would be cool (I can NEVER get the search feature to work for me!). Although 300 is correct the site is really great and if these features are going to suck a lot of $$$ and not be highly utilized it would not be worth it. :)

Very cool idea, but I don't know that I'd use them and they're kind of a lot of work.

Whats a wiki..... Lets just say that a Wiki is a place that holds a lot of factual data. The plan is something like this... Currently we have thousands of threads with information about how to do almost everthing to a hayabusa, change the brakes, squeaky windshield, change tires, specs, adjust suspensions... Now imagine you had a place where all of that data could be searchable and all the members could keep it accurate and add pics, edit the information and keep it accurate. The wiki would have step by step instructions with pictures all managed and content added by the members. You have a new way to do something, you add it to the wiki...

Here is one I found that is just starting out... they have the basic information about the bike itself....

LINK TO WIKI CLICK HERE

this can be a HUGE asset to the site....

The wiki seems a good addition, the rest not so much.

"Social networking" seems to me a code phrase for "I'm narcissistic."

i think the wiki idea is a good one if it is run correctly and like others have said, everyone understands the rules and abides by them- e.g. there is no need for multiple postings of the same thing...maybe if you made it where it took fifty posts from your count only those who actually had something substantial to say would post up and the ho's wouldn't make it impossible to read and follow :beerchug:

Social networking will simply enhance the things that people are doing manually today. Having groups of geographic members in your list so you can send out ride updates, get togethers....

Being able to interact with the folks that you have met, things like that... Like I said I know that some will use it and some will not. We have people now that are at their technological end point, they can barely post much less manage their own blog... However with facebook, myspace and the others coming into the market so strong we must adapt and keep up with the trends or we will die a miserable slow death... There are other forums out there that havent made a single change in years and they are withering away... We added another 270 members last month so we are obviously doing something right....

Having the options out there and being on the cutting edge is important to me and it keeps things moving... the great news is that you dont have to blog to me a member any more than you have to post to be a member, it will be there for the members that want to use it....
