Why bother?

I found me along the way.

I took out many bugs along the way. Some of them with my neck at 70+ MPH. I rode up to Diablo Pass, WA. On the way back to Everett I stopped to take a picture of an old steam train and met a cool guy on a Wing. His name was Warren. He asked a buch of questions about the Busa. He said it sent chills down his spine (in a good way) when I fired up the bike to move it into the parking lot near the train. I ask him about his Wing. We hung out for a couple of hours and then rode back to Lake Stevens together. He can handle the Wing very well. I behaved myself so he could keep up with me.

What more could I ask for? Today was near perfection.

Now if I didn't have to go back to my life tomorrow all would be good. I need to call the VA tomorrow morning to see what my option are to get my back fixed again.

Good luck with the back. I know how it is. After 4 herniated disk my diet of Lortab and Flexeryl no longer cut it. My last option is discectomy...scheduled for this winter of course!! Can't cut into my riding time.

Also hope the VA treats you better than they have my dad. After 14 years of fighting and going through there so called "hearings" he finally obtained 50% medical disability and got his knees replaced a few weeks ago. Be firm with them and don't let them say no!!

There only concern is not approving medical disability and needed surgical procedures. For the older generation such as my dad who served in Vietnam, they delay everything as long as possible in hopes that the veteran will pass away.

Keep your head up!

Thanks aphartman.

I'm already rated at 20% for my back. I made a mess of it while I was on active duty. I have already had a microdiscectomy where they took out 30% of the usable disc. The disc didn't scar up very well and it continued to leak out into the spinalcord cavity. There isn't enough left to do it again. I don't want fusion in L4-L5. L5-S1 will be fused at some point. That disc only has 40% of the disc left. Arthritis is already taking it's toll on that joint.

As one doctor put it, I'm 37 with a 70 year old back.

Sounds like yesterday was exactly what you needed.  Stress free and a fresh new friend!!!  Good luck with the VA.  It is a shame when men and women lay their lives on the line for this country and they in turn have to fight again to have decent medical coverage.  Keep on top of them and don't take no bull from them.  Thank YOU for your service.

As for the other stuff.  Just take it one day at a time.  Make a list of things you need to do that day and tackle one item at a time.  Don't worry about all the big stuff, like house selling, X needing a lobotomy (sounds like it wouldn't help anyway).  Let your lawyer deal with her from now on.  Your health and time are far too important.

This too shall pass!!!  Hang in there, more good days to come.

great therapy-----"I ran out of road"!!!! That says it all. Hang in there, life will get better.

There comes a time in your life when you realize that all the stuff you own actually owns you. Release your "material need" based existence.
Get your pain under control, after that you can say "FuGG It" for a few days to get past the stress that is clouding your judgement.

Sounds like some good advice but I do not think I could ever part with my Busa that is a hard thing to swallow.

Very nicely said

Doug, I'm so sorry to hear things are beyond overwhelming at the moment...no experience with divorce, just know that it's hard on those involved and until it's all done with and out of the way, your life is in a constant state of limbo

About the back - get to a NEW doctor. I don't take "nothing else can be done" as an acceptable answer, especially when you're looking at the rest of your life in pain. Put yourself on the top of the heap in life even if other things are in the way, and get yourself feeling better...

At least you did go riding; that always helps...great shots

Hang in there

Things aren't going much better, but not worse either. I am passing a kidney stone and it's almost through. That is one of the things that was adding to the stress. Hopefully it will pass today and I'll be done with it.

The ride on Sunday did help alot. I was gone from the house for over 8 hours, all on the bike. It gave me a lot of time to think about things.

I took Robaxin and Vicodin this morning.  I put the Busa back together and cheched all the pre-flight items.  I grabbed my Zune and gear and hit the road for the day.  I was feeling pretty good until the Vicodin wore off.  I logged about 240 miles today in the mountains, where I had NO cell coverage.  Just me, the Busa, my favorite playlist on the Zune, and beautiful weather.

The gas prices aren't very friendly up here, but it's not too bad with the Busa.
Sorry to hear about your turmoil Doug, I hope riding somewhat makes up for it.

But wait, back the fuel truck up a bit! You pay only $2.854 per gallon?

I just had a very interesting meeting with my Ex today. She was still pressuring my to buy her half out, but now @ $65,000 cash. I told her she was smoking crack. We can't even sell the house at the value she wants to sell it for. Anyway, no I'm an ass and she's pissed and I don't care.

I suggested we put the house on the market on June 15th, so she has three weeks to get her junk out of the house. I'll be glad the day we sell it so I can cut the strings forever.

Just wanted to chime in and say good luck with that stone.  I feel your PAIN on that one!!!  I have had six of them myself.

Be careful! My last stone in January, caused a bloodborne e coli infection and landed me in the hospital for weeks!!!  Watch your temp and call the doc if the stone doesn't pass!

Doug, I went through a divorce and some tuff times with my health several years ago. I can relate to what your going through. I wish I would have had the org to talk to then, but I did not, and the only one I had to talk things over with was my son who was in Kuwait during desert storm. I lost my dog, my classic car, my motorcycle, my musical equipment, everything! I hated my job and bottom line, my life sucked. Trust me, things will work themselves out. Change what you can and don't worry about the rest. You will find over time you will come back stronger than ever and be happy once again.I hope you know how fortunate you are that you have so many people on this forum that care about you. Take care of yourself.
