I say I think because there was no problems with the chrome windscreen until I rode through the valley last summer on my way to and from Lake Tahoe where it hit 110  literally, the frame of the bike was so hot you couldn't touch it. I'm sure it was a combo of the screen + heat.
See appearance mod post for other pics.

One of the warnings on the Puig double bubble instruction sheets was that you should not park in direct subnlight because of the magnifying effect of the shape of the windshield. Are you using a double bubble?

I heard about it but, never seen it until today...

I think we need a sun screen, this summer

(Turbo-Torch @ Feb. 23 2007,16:59) Did your gauge needles survive?  They usually melt too.
No, just the front cover closest to the windscreen. speedo dials and needles all OK, rear housing part OK also.

Last year we had several people say that the same thing happen to them with the Chrome Screen DB

Is this also an issue when using a clear db? Hope not, I have a clear ZG DB. I read of this before, but always thought it was a urban legend.

Even if it's the black one? I just bought one and this would be important to know. It does get pretty hot here in the summer.
