I say I think because there was no problems with the chrome windscreen until I rode through the valley last summer on my way to and from Lake Tahoe where it hit 110 literally, the frame of the bike was so hot you couldn't touch it. I'm sure it was a combo of the screen + heat.

I guess thermoplastic is used in its manufacturing that's why it started melting in heat. Wind screen or motorcycle shields are never suppose to melt if they are made of pure material. Product quality matters a lot especially for long term travelling.
