She passed open spaces to drive over a curb painted red and didn't see the no parking on the grass signs or the no parking in large white letter on the red curbing. Hmmm...I wonder why the jacked up the fines from $15 to $750?
Is 750 excessive? Maybe if there wasn't every opportunity to avoid the ticket in the first place, but all she had to do was use the parking lot that she drove through instead of entitling herself to the grass. She chose to park out of order, she needs to accept the consequences.
Parking is a big issue almost everywhere these days. People take liberties with the simplest of laws and then the get bent because the fine is more than they feel like paying? C'mon.
As they say, if you can't pay the fine, don't do the "crime".
One things certain though: Bet she will NEVER park on the grass there again. And isn't that the point of fines in the first place? To discourage the behavior for which the fine is levied?
Bet if turning left in front of motorcycle was an automatic $10K ticket that it would happen a heck of lot less often.
