Women and their shoes. As a proud heterosexual male, Lamb has a lady in his life and am just growing increasingly tired of unsensible shoes on her part. flip-flops, heeled something or other, backless , black, cheap looking, expensive. Which looks better blah blah blah. In the end all that matters is she is always pseudo complaining about her feet. Blisters, bleeding, any kind of event has her wearing some shoe that tears up her feet in 1/2 day. uuggghhhhh.

I am with you. I have a couple pairs of sneeks and a pair of flats. Done. I like looking at shoes, but I hate when they hurt my feet. Oh and I do have a pair of riding boots now too.

Once done, the ring is set and the tug of war is on...your hooked indeed! Their choice. If I may suggest a couple rules:

1) Don't allow her to complain to you about it. She made the choice with full knowledge of the issues and she can bear the pain in silence!

2) Don't EVER do ANYTHING to accommodate the poor choice. Don't carry a spare set of shoes for her, don't walk with her back to the car for a shoe change, don't leave a place early b/c her feet hurt, etc. Again, she made the choice, suffer in silence.

3) NEVER buy her a "stupid" shoe. EVER! If you do you'll be doing two things: 1) Encouraging poor health and 2) Sending her a "signal" that you prefer to see her in stupid shoes, thus reinforcing the all too common lady's belief that their men don't like how they look in sensible shoes.

4) Offer to buy her a "sensible" shoe (any shoe that is functional for movement and health) anytime she wants IF she agrees to wear them at certain walking events (bike shows, hiking, walking tours, etc). If you can get her into good shoes on the rare occassion, there's a good chance that she'll start making that choice on her own after a while.
