No lights on, apparently not responding to any call and just rolling down the highway. Would you follow him at speed he was going? He's setting the pace right?

Not recommended, but I'd do it! I'm also the guy that passes them at like 5-8 over on the freeway somedays..

I do, and I have - and I have also got pulled over for it once. Cop slowed down so I could pass (after slowing down myself), then lit me up. He said he paced me at 70 (in a 55) - I said I was following him, and since he was a police officer I assumed he was setting a safe pace for traffic. We argued a bit, but I did not get a ticket. I think if he gave me a ticket and i raised the same argument in court, then he'd have to ticket himself as well since he was speeding without lights or siren/or responding to a call.

You are kidding right? Busa's don't follow anything, they set the pace that everyting else tries to compare to.:laugh:

I'll pace with them if they aren't going crazy over speed limit.

+1 like Strife said, i'm not going to fall in behind him if he blows my footpegs up as he goes by but will follow at a reasonable amount :beerchug: it's always nice to get a personal escort across the country

Ok Semi. I was waiting for a favorable response or two to post these.
First one is when he passed me. Gopro split file for some reason so last 3-4 minutes is on second vid.

Like you said I felt I was just following his pace and we were making good time.

i probably would have pulled in behind him if he had passed me running those speeds but here are a couple things i would have done differently for whatever that's worth:

1) put a little more distance between the two of us (i know how those cameras make you look farther away than you actually are so you were WAY too close)
2) unless passing a car, i always stay one lane to their right (a lot less visible in their right side mirror than in the rear view one)
3) he tried to give you a chance to fall back and leave you at the 1 minute mark but you sped up...when he did that and slowed down again, i would have made sure to get off his tail
4) never follow a LEO with your high beams on!

not trying to tell you how to ride your ride, just some small things i would have done differently :beerchug:

Just because they are breaking the law does not mean that you can also. Like Jphilipson posted he got pulled over but got lucky.
This exact thing happened to me but I could not argue it out of court.
No lights or sirens does NOT mean they are not responing to a call.

I like advice. Was just running late. I know no excuse. Stayed a bit close so I keep up :)

The high beams I ride with on all the time and the manual here in Fl actually recommends doing it for bikes so as to increase visibility.

All in all I think I got lucky or they didn't care or both. Won't make a habit of it for sure.

Speedo is off about ten so if I'm showing 90-100 is was most likely 80-90 in a 55.
But it wasn't like both of us were blowing by traffic. If its 55 than most are doing 70-80 anyway.
It always seems right above 80 is when FHP gets upset.

Yes your right. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Ever notice, when you doing the posted limit and you pass a LEO, with your radar detector on, they pull in behind you and pace you. It's happened to me a few times now, also in my car.
