thats pretty funny Blanca Busa...it must have looked like you were running him down to the other people on the highway

Its this cop mentality that give em all bad names. Exempt from laws? Just because your on duty and a cop!? No wonder 3/4 of the police force or more is corrupt and pigheaded. When the rules are written to allow them to be so?! Its unreal they teach officers that it ok to break laws cause they are police. Lead by example. Not by do as i say not as i do. Makes me sick.

So let me just say this.. Ex cop and all....

I completely agree that if you get some nut job running 100 + as we saw in the video a few months back some off duty running late and screaming through traffic, completely busted.... If you see an officer flip the lights at an intersection then see him pull into the doughnut shop he better be able to explain that. But what you guys don't get is that the life of a cop is always on the move... You want to beat them with a stick when they take too long showing up to take a report and at the same time there is someone trying to run a video camera so they can catch them speeding...

As far as those 3 in the truck that Blanca followed it's easy to just say that is unacceptable they weren't going to a call but you also don't know that they weren't heading to serve a warrant on a violent sex offender or going to get a judges signature on a case they were working... There are bad cops out there, I get it... I know some of them.. The vast majority of LEO are good guys that just try to do the best they can do... I used to get calls all the time about reckless drunk drivers a couple of miles ahead of me, you have to speed to get there... you don't need your lights, you don't need a siren you just need to catch up... If you could hear the radio conversation maybe it would make more sense... Heck maybe there was an officer calling for backup you just don't know... Personally if I was to see abuse where someone ran code 3 then pulled into McDonalds I would say something to them but for the vast majority I give them the benefit of the doubt that they are just working to help me..... It's easy to speculate when you have no idea what its like on the job....

lol... its not a cop mentality. its a STATE STATUTE! if you dont like the way the laws are written then write ur congressman.....

3/4 of the force is corrupt and pigheaded? really? lol. so according to you if someone is speeding down the highway a cop cant exceed the speed limit to catch up to them? really? or if a cop sees someone speeding behind him he should just move over and let them pass vs. pace them so he can take the appropriate enforcement action? keep dreaming.....

when the cop is working on the highway where is he going? up the highway and then back down the highway. a cop exceeding the speed limit is to either get to a call, catch up to a car he sees up ahead of him, cover someone, bait someone, etc.... he's WORKING and works on the HIGHWAY. howbout a little common sense huh....? you say it as tho he is speeding because he is late for a date or something. dont be a moron!

I'm not getting involved in the topic, but,
"write your congressman"....:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Because those guys are straight and solve all of our problems!
Ok, I'm done, as you were.

They were actually 3 corrupt police officers who I just witnessed eating donuts and drinking coffee on the job. After that they went to a strip club and rousted some women there and then I saw them plant a gun at the scene of a crime and drive away. I tried my best to catch them but alas their vehicle was a super pursuit tahoe and pulled away from me. :(

I don't follow cops on the freeway speeding or not. This is because of the "bubble car" effect. The symptoms are as follows,
1: people will drive 5 or 10 under the speed limit causing a jam

2: people get nutted up about the officer and their situational awareness shrinks to what the cop is doing (speeding or not) then you might get run over.

Statute as posted applies to the vehicle not the operator. Read it again.
Cops are not exempt from traffic laws or any other laws while doing their job or otherwise. I realize that decisions have to be made on a minute-to-minute basis by LEO's, and sometimes violating a law is a requirement to doing a good job, but just because there is no prosecution doesn't mean there wasn't a violation.
Carry on.

If ur gonna post something at least try to make a little sense when doing so.... who else would be operating a Police car then while working? a maintenance worker?...... wow! no one said anything about being exempt from other laws. the post was about SPEEDING!

"Motor vehicles in the custody and use of officers in the performance of their duties shall be exempt from any traffic regulations of any town, city or borough".......

this isnt rocket science, try to keep up....

well, since I didn't watch the video before making the comment - no i would not follow an officer at this speed. Up to 1-15 over, sure; after that I figure he's on duty and therefore needs to be left alone to perform it.

Viperblack, this is the second thread I've seen you make derogatory remarks regarding police officers. Do you REALLY THINK the only reason they signed up to get shot at was so that they could play a power trip with normal citizenry? Most likely not, or they wouldn't make it thru the screening process. Again, you need to check yourself before you hit the send key as the mods won't tolerate it and shouldn't.

I have a great respect for law enforcement who actually do their jobs. I have no respect for cops who think they are above the law. I have stated this before. Many many officers think or act like just because they have a badge they are above the law. This isnt some new thing. Lets get real. The way Gnbrett worded his post was he was above the law when on duty. He highlighted stats in the "law book". Just because you are a police officer doesnt give you the right to break laws. I am not talking about speeding to a call etc. I am talking about situations like the vid watched above. I know all about the speed patrols for highways etc. What i am saying is they are stupid and shouldnt be allowed. With todays technology, choppers, lasers, etc. Speed patrols arent required.

Lastly, i have not been derogitive to police officers. I have been opinionated towards them. I have said nothing out of line. I have been less derogative then gnbrett for sure. I havent called anyone names etc like he has. So go preach to a different choir please. Finally i do respect police officers and the job they have to do. I dont respect cops who take advantage of the badge and think they deserve some sort of special treatment cause they have a difficult or dangerous job.

Like most threads that involve police discussions, we degenerate to this. Just a video of someone pacing a patrol car. Now we have all kinds of speculation to the credibility of the driver, and now all cops in general. Well some of my best friends are cops and it has been said before, we do not tolerate police bashing. Discussions are great, its how we learn. But for the love of God, why must these discussions always turn south. Locked
