ZX-14 is the FASTEST ????

According to "Super Bikes" and Jason Britton. " THE ZX-1400 IS THE FASTEST PRODUCTION BIKE IN THE WORLD " :wtf:

Bring It On :moon: That's ALL I have to say ???

I didn't read down through the rest of this thread, so I'm sure someone said it...but Kawasaki sponsers Jason Britton and gives him free bikes...Give me one for free and I'll say it's fast too. LoL

Magazines go back and forth, every test they do seems to be biased one way or another (unfortunately)

I've always been a Kawasaki guy after buying my first bike, the '84 Ninja, but Kawasaki should be ashamed of themselves for not sufficiently usurping the 2001 (Gen1) Hayabusa. For the ZX14 to be 1/100's of a second faster in the quarter mile is ridiculous and sinful.

Actually in most tests, with the bikes ran derestricted, the 14 IS the fastest....as in top speed. The quickest is the busa...as in 1/4 mile. Just depends how they're using the words

Back in the Day I used to Ride a 86 Ninja 1000. Thought that was Fast  I guess it was for it's time. Now Days The Only time I get to see a ZX-1400 is in Rear View Mirrors :moon:

Derestricting the bikes takes away the whole"production bike" value as they have then been modified. the fact of the matter is...until the stop restricting bikes from the factory, the busa will remain the top speed king because no other bike in stock form ever beat it.Thats why its still in the guiness book as the fastest "production" motorcycle in the world...or at least its in the 08 books...havent bought the 09 book yet.

From the 2008 guinness book...the only PROVEN top speed king:laugh:

I like how everyone gets hurt and defensive over this subject. Egos are rather fragile things.

Better to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow.

As you already know the competition ended in 2000 with the agreement between all the IMPORTANT manufacturers!

right, but MV is not playing by the MPH RESTRICTION rule for some reason. not sure why

uhhhh yea.... who cares... damn zx-14 makes me hungry for a cookout

I've never been much for worrying about top speeds and 1/4 mile times. That said, I did notice the following after watching the episode in question last night:

1) The Hayabusa was a Gen 1 while the ZX was the latest model.
2) The match was a best 2 of 3 passes.
3) The 1st and 3rd passes were won by the ZX. Times were displayed prominently.
4) The 2nd pass was won by the Busa. Times were NOT displayed AT ALL. Hmmmm..... Could it be that the Busa ran the fastest time of the match? Guess we'll never know, but, ahhhh, the speculation! ;)

The reality is the bikes are solid competitors for each other and the rider and environment is much more likely to determine the outcome of any given race. The only reason to choose one over the other is a) if you're truly THAT good (and I'm guessing there ain't too many of us that are), b) you prefer the looks of one over the other or c) one bikes geometry fits you better than the other.

I think the term "One of the fastest production bikes" is more like it.

Jay Gleason just pulled 9.5's with a fairly stock VMax, but the guy weighs in like a Derby Jockey with reaction times like a computer processor. So if a guy tosses a drag tire and wheelie bar on a tuned VMax and pulls 8's what's the big deal? He ain't riding it on the street.

Chasing the ever illusive THE Fastest will be maddening, cause there will always be one faster sooner or later.

I just pulled the restrictor plate out of the VMax air box, and it's a blast to drag the bike from red light to red light. I wonder why Star made the VMax for sale as a production bike, but installed a restrictor plate to keep it civil? One just removes it to wake the beast up!

Anyway, Even if the bike only pulls a 10.02 in the 1/4 "stock" it's not much work to make it pull 9's. I'll CERTAINLY never be able to pull those numbers since I weigh 200lbs and have the reaction time of a sloth chasing his meal.

Bench racing is fun and I'm going to enjoy the local drag strip a lot!

OK, I can give you the true scoop as I am a drag racing NHRA National Motorcycle Champion (Bench Class) The Suzuki properly set up will whip all comers! There, take it from a pro. No one beats me in a bench race!!!

my $.02...............................
