Ok folks, Busa Whipped is coming down from the midwest to do these two days and I registered today. We are running Intermediate.

There is plenty of time here to recover from the $395 in track fees!

Be real nice to get a few more Busas out on the track!

Never my brother. I still remember my first track day. I thought I was ricky racer keeping up to Devil Dog, only to find out he was limping the bike back to the paddock with a missing wheel spacer  . You'll learn alot more at the track than you will on the street.

I remember that day

me too  i might be able to ride down for this one too, just have to check the schedule...it's only 514 miles, that would make for a nice end o' the season jaunt :beerchug:

For a rookie who has never ridden track before, how daring are the novice sessions? I want to give this a shot, but first take the twisties a bit easy and I'm skeered I will get in the way of the faster riders?
Also, for a first time, I don't want to be concerned about dropping a new K9 Busa, so I may bring another bike, perhaps get a used 600 or GSX750R and end with a few laps on the Busa.
Any advice?

You can ride novice as fast or as slow as you want; nobody is gonna push you to ride faster than you think you can. In fact, the instructors spend most of their time telling riders to slow down because they can see they are on the edge of their ability envelope...

Why you waiting til OCT? I'm also looking at the June date...

if you aint a bit "skeered" then you are riding like a girl... What I just learned on my first track day is that sensory overload is always present the first few sessions.. Speed is not the issue.. getting used to the environment is.. by the end of my third session, I was working more on riding technique as the track layout was becoming more embedded in my memory..

my the end of my last session, I was using the throttle to use the full width of the track.. (now you start to feel like you are going faster)

Just go out and do it.. as far as the 750 goes? yea, I think that would be a good move if you decide to keep running.. Although very capable, the Busa is pretty heavy and hard on tires compared to the lighter bikes.. (not to mention new rider is going to be harder on tires I bet)

you are going to love it I bet :)

I will be there racing 10/3 and 10/4. Man, to bad it's not at the same time.

First off, there is NO REASON for you to drop or wreck your bike at a track. You ride to your level, at your pace, you pay track fees just like everyone else and you have just as much of a right to be out there as any other rider. In all honesty, you are in far more peril riding to the store than you are at the track. Imagine a 40' wide swath of grippy pavement, with no stripes, no oil, no cops and no Honda Civics with 17 year old texters at the helm!

Novice is just what it says, its for new track riders to go play!
In the afternoon, they'll turn ya loose and let you work it some!

Yes it would Semi!
Be awesome to have a Busa track session going on and I KNOW the instructors would get a kick out of it!
