1st Annual Hayabusa.org Meet-n-Greet!

I am in for where ever it is, but would prefer something central to increase the chance of more folks showing up.

As for time frame, I would suggest late spring or early summer.

I forgot to mention, if the West Coast Guys can't make it to Arkansas we should just meet over in NC, it's probably closer to most people.

Do we have a graphic map of where people are? It seems like there are a bunch of us and two meets, one for each coast, is probably more viable for most people.

I'll start putting a map together, please email me with your location.....

I'll give it 2 weeks, then post it up. ( 2 weeks should give our not so frequent members time see this)

What cha think?

Jay

I'm game. Just as long as the Vegas Run is still going to happen, since I'll be living there in a week. Colorado would be good if we do 2 meets at once. Eureka would be a long haul but probably doable.

I'd suggest somewhere on the mississippi (st.louis) or possibly up in the black hills SD. Could even crash in on sturgis, of course not while the HDs are there

Lots of great riding up there and a ride there from both coasts would be great. There are also pretty high speed limits up there

. We tried to plan this for the avalanche club and it was as geographically central for US and Canada. Its about 1-2 days driving from just about anywhere

Just a few thoughts....and while I'd love it to be in the Deals Gap region/Pigeon Forge areas its really not close enough for folks on the west side of the rockies.

I already have plans for being up in Deals Gap during the spring - summer time. It depends if i go to Daytona during bike week. But plans change so who knows.

My job doesn't allow me vacation time. (we have 2 closings a year which are considered our vacation time)
Hey Zuk4life, I couldn't help it this one, but it did strike a chord with me as being funny. Do you work at McDonalds' or someplace like that?
rock.gif
Only two closing per year? Sheeesh!!
Yep, I work for Mcdonalds. It was that easy to figure out eh?

Now, do you want fries with that?

Can i supersize for meal?

So far here's what your telling me! The five locations I've read more than once are.... (and these are in no particular order)

St. Louis, Mo
North Carolina
California
Colorado
Arkansas (NW corner)

Obviously, I'd be up for California! ;-) (Yeah, I'm a selfish bastard! ;-) )

I could swing out to Colorado, MAYBE. I won't know how much time I can take until it gets closer to the moment.

I like the idea of two meets, East and West

And whatever we do, make sure there is LOTS of video!!!

--Wag--

Lets do a East Coast and a west coast at the same time.It would be nice to be able to bring Suzy-Q along.I don't have the time for driving and trailering to the midwest or central US.

I'll make it for sure. Also, would like to suggest ARK over CO for a central location. The riding opportunities in ARK are much more plentiful in smaller geographical area. Colorado has some great rides, but they are spread out. The national meet and greets seem to be very successful in the ARK area.

colorado is a good place, not cause i am there. we would like to have you guys here with our club, if you guys don't know about it, visitour website.
it is all busa members here local in Colorado.
http://www.milehighbusaowners.com/
we can get most of the members here in Colorado & join you guys. anybidy needs help for places to stay & meet places let me know, i will do my best guys

Well this could get interesting...

The problem with either coast is it's just TOO damn far for many of those on the opposite... Most just won't be able to make it.

St. Louis?
rock.gif
WTF is in St. Louis that would make riding half way across the us worth the effort?

I mean besides an arch and a Police force that is pretty damned uptight... I think alot of the Southern folks are also forgetting that once past the mississippi the roads really open up and you can make some time. Same problem with Kansas folks, I think if you have ever driving through Kansas (No offense KS) you all would be willing to continue to the rockies if we are talking good riding. So while Geographically dead center may not be the best choice...

NW Arkansas? Been there, very pretty and some interesting riding. But is Branson really where a bunch of sportbike riders want to hang out? I mean it's a cool family destination but really, how many of you all want attend the Plumb Nellie Days, 31stAnnual Hillbilly Festival & Craft Show?? Check out the rest of the calender too. OK OK I am not one to speak softly, I don't want to ruffle EVERYONE...

The point would be to get together someplace where there is plenty of Natural "Free" beauty, tons of excellent (And Largely Unvisited) mountain roads. So we could get together and maybe actually ride, and someplace that has a decent Motorcycle scene already. Like Check this out "Freedom Tours" Scroll down their page, and just read a bit about the experiances... and the scenery (Yeah I know It's Harley Based but you get the idea) Read this one from John Burns---> Rocky Mountain Sigh and a little something from the Iron Butt Side be sure to look at the pictures....

Lets NOT Forget PPIR and the AMA is there! So we could time it to coincide with the AMA Races in 2006...

Something else to remember is in that in the middle of Summer, when it's hot and crappy in the south? It's beautiful in the Rockies... Mild Temps, low humidity...

OK OK, yes I am campaigning for Colorado, but I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true, I think it would very likely be the absolute BEST spot possible to get a bunch of Busas together. Plenty of sunshine, 1,000's of miles of excellent twisties, and lots of other things to do that don't cost much. I grew up there, I know the roads, I know the climate, and I know the Attitudes.

For A Nation wide Busa Get together... I don't think there is a better location.

-Perfect summer/Late spring riding weather NO STUCK IN CRAPPY WEATHER. If it's crappy in one area you can ride to another. No sweating in the heat and Humidity... if it's 100degrees in Denver, you can ride for an hour and it's sunny and 75-80 in the mountains.

-Thousands of miles of sweet mountain roads, lightly traveled by LEO's and Tourists.

-Moderate expenses, NO HUGE Inflation of Gas prices, or outlandish Hotel/Motel or food prices.

-No Bike? Don't want to or cannot ride out there? No worries, Colorado and the rockies still provide plenty to do, Horseback riding, camping, Hiking etc. There are Zoo's and Museums, Denver can offer just about anything else you would want. Bring the whole family...

-The whole State is a destination, your not stuck in the middle of nothing because of one strip of road. Your surrounded by good roads that are lightly traveled and perfect for the Busa.

-Tons of areas to go where it isn't tourist hell... plus some limited stakes gambling in a few rustic mountain towns. Black Hawk-Central City CHECK THE PRICES OF THE HOTELS!!!!
smile.gif

-Mostly it's about the roads. Thousands of miles of good beatiful un-crowded roads... Maps courteousy of The Colorado Sportbike Club

Last Thought Then I'll shut the hell up for awhile. I am not making anything up, like I said I greww up riding the Rockies and living in Colorado. The Drivers are poilite, the people are friendly, the weather is good... Oh and it's Awesome to look at...

Last one then I'll shut up... I know I know, but I like the Idea of a National get together. And I think if we can get it together in a place that offers something for everyone and has stuff to do for the families we could actually make it happen in Early or Mid Summer and have a good turn out.

campground If the vote sways towards Colorful Colorado, we should stay at Winding River campground (has cabins, too) This campground is in Rocky Mountain national park and is 5 minutes out of Grand Lake Co. and has a secluded section for events like this one....back where everyone would be together and we wouldn't bother anyone with the busa naked motocrossing contest. Only thing, the place is at 9000+ feet elevation...may be a little much if someone has health issues...just a thought.
