Well this could get interesting...
The problem with either coast is it's just TOO damn far for many of those on the opposite... Most just won't be able to make it.
St. Louis?
WTF is in St. Louis that would make riding half way across the us worth the effort?
I mean besides an arch and a Police force that is pretty damned uptight... I think alot of the Southern folks are also forgetting that once past the mississippi the roads really open up and you can make some time. Same problem with Kansas folks, I think if you have ever driving through Kansas (No offense KS) you all would be willing to continue to the rockies if we are talking good riding. So while Geographically dead center may not be the best choice...
NW Arkansas? Been there, very pretty and some interesting riding. But is Branson really where a bunch of sportbike riders want to hang out? I mean it's a cool family destination but really, how many of you all want attend the
Plumb Nellie Days, 31stAnnual Hillbilly Festival & Craft Show?? Check out the rest of the calender too. OK OK I am not one to speak softly, I don't want to ruffle EVERYONE...
The point would be to get together someplace where there is plenty of Natural "Free" beauty, tons of excellent (And Largely Unvisited) mountain roads. So we could get together and maybe actually ride, and someplace that has a decent Motorcycle scene already. Like Check this out
"Freedom Tours" Scroll down their page, and just read a bit about the experiances... and the scenery (Yeah I know It's Harley Based but you get the idea) Read this one from John Burns--->
Rocky Mountain Sigh and a little something from the
Iron Butt Side be sure to look at the pictures....
Lets NOT Forget PPIR and the AMA is there! So we could time it to coincide with the AMA Races in 2006...
Something else to remember is in that in the middle of Summer, when it's hot and crappy in the south? It's beautiful in the Rockies... Mild Temps, low humidity...
OK OK, yes I am campaigning for Colorado, but I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true, I think it would very likely be the absolute BEST spot possible to get a bunch of Busas together. Plenty of sunshine, 1,000's of miles of excellent twisties, and lots of other things to do that don't cost much. I grew up there, I know the roads, I know the climate, and I know the Attitudes.
For A Nation wide Busa Get together... I don't think there is a better location.
-Perfect summer/Late spring riding weather NO STUCK IN CRAPPY WEATHER. If it's crappy in one area you can ride to another. No sweating in the heat and Humidity... if it's 100degrees in Denver, you can ride for an hour and it's sunny and 75-80 in the mountains.
-Thousands of miles of sweet mountain roads, lightly traveled by LEO's and Tourists.
-Moderate expenses, NO HUGE Inflation of Gas prices, or outlandish Hotel/Motel or food prices.
-No Bike? Don't want to or cannot ride out there? No worries, Colorado and the rockies still provide plenty to do, Horseback riding, camping, Hiking etc. There are Zoo's and Museums, Denver can offer just about anything else you would want. Bring the whole family...
-The whole State is a destination, your not stuck in the middle of nothing because of one strip of road. Your surrounded by good roads that are lightly traveled and perfect for the Busa.
-Tons of areas to go where it isn't tourist hell... plus some limited stakes gambling in a few rustic mountain towns.
Black Hawk-Central City CHECK THE PRICES OF THE HOTELS!!!!
-Mostly it's about the roads.
Thousands of miles of good beatiful un-crowded roads... Maps courteousy of
