2003 Gsxr1000

Mached up.
I still have steering neck bearings to do.
The forks havn't leaked either, I thought they had, but, I'm sure they're about to at any time anyway, lol.
I will do those last, after I ride it again and make sure the brakes work.

The Delkevic 18" muffler is very well made, just a regular straight through design with packing in a carbon fiber sleeve, and the baffle is removeable(I'll try it with the baffle out, but probably keep it in).
The total weight of the muffler, midpipe, and clamps is 6.2 lbs
The stock titanium header is 4.8 lbs
So 11 lbs total, not bad.
I'm sure an aftermarket header would gain another 5 hp or so, but it isn't worth the cost at this time, which is why I got this slip-on.

New chain and sprockets...and the front sprocket is the wrong one...wth
The invoice is right for a -1, 16 tooth front...but they sent a stock 17 tooth...****!!!
Quality and service has gone to s*** everywhere, it's sad.
Now I wait until tomorrow afternoon to see what they're gonna do about it...
Regardless, here are the weight comparisons.
The 16t should be an ounce or so lighter than the 17t too.
Stock 530mm, stock sprockets, steel rear, vs 520mm with stock teeth sprockets(will get the -1 asap) and aluminum rear.
Measurement units are ounces and pounds.

Need to connect the rear shock next, to make this a roller again, and I have stock links for the shock.
The rear tire is a Q3+ off of the '18 Gsxr1k, the center is into the wear bars and won't pass Va State Inspection, but otherwise fine to use for now.
I have a good matching front with around 1k miles on it, so I'll use them until I'm finished with this round of mods, then get a new set.
These are much better than the 12 year old Pilots that were on it, lol.
This rear is also a 55, and the 2003 came with a 50, so it will be interesting to see the handling differences.

Have you decided on a paint color/scheme yet?

Have you decided on a paint color/scheme yet?

Black, of course, lol
But, unsure of details right now.
The bike came with a new in the box set of matte black fairings.
Then I ruined the gloss black paint on the tank...
To paint or powdercoat the tank, or get a Bagster(and just spray paint the bare spot on the tank to prevent rust) are all in the $250 range.
That sucks too, as that's an unforseen expense, and what a back tire costs now, oh well.
I'm leaning towards having the tank powdercoated a semi-gloss black, like the frame.
I'll probably put a Suzuki "S" on each side of the tank, and a Gsxr1000 on each side of the tail.
Stock or stock like size and design, and also in black, either ghosted in, or a varying shade for contrast.
It's a hoon cruiser...so it'll stay subtle...and quiet.

I forgot you had those new fairings...I should have been less lazy and looked back over the posts...

Subtle is always good....

I called about the sprocket, was nice as always, and the guy there was cool.
He had every size and brand except that one in stock, or he was gonna get it 2nd day shipped to me.
But, is having one drop shipped that will be here monday or tuesday, and is including a return lable for this one.
Hopefully it's right, lol.
Great business in my book though, and they had the lowest prices that I could find, I'll stick with these guys for now.

Brembo RCS17 is here
Now I just have to measure the incorrect length brake lines, and get the correct banjos.
The banjos that are almost 90° are no good.
So, I flipped to the caliper ends at the MC, and those banjos are correct, so to get that sorted over the weekend, and correct parts ordered on Monday.
I have to replace this lever with a short ASV at some point too, lol

Seems like you guys will have fun, good luck with the project. Btw, I'm not sure you ended up on the bad side of the trade... after all you did trade a Kawi for a Suzuki, just saying... plus the gsxr will be way more fun to wheelie than the Kawi :poke:
