2018 copart special project

OMG on top of everything...the front axle was cross threaded. The first few threads destroyed has to retap it and put a new axle nut in.

But! got the bike back with the qs3+ on there and it is nice. Just did 100 miles in hill country to break them in.

There is noticeably less road vibration and such with the new chain and new tires.
The q3 is an amazing tire,I loved the set I ran and if I didn't ride so many miles I wouldn't run anything else. They don't last long enough for the miles I do in a season but the stickiness and the aggressive profile made me fall in love with them.

I'm still getting a lot of vibration in the foot pegs and handlebars and levers after 5k rpm. The vibration is strong enough to make my hands go numb pretty quick. Disengaging the clutch doesn't stop the vibration.

Is that just how it is? Any ideas how I can start to reduce if not?

They vibrate but not that bad....how is it when it's idling and revving a little?

Is it a high frequency vibration? with all the other surprises you've found, I'd tighten the engine and handlebar mounts....

Great thread! Did you get the exhaust mount sorted? That might give you a bit of a buzz.

Not bad when idling and just giving it a little gas, only bad on road above 5

I think I'll do that with engine mounts, just back them out and retorque. I am going to replace handlebar bolts whenever they come in.

Ohhh yeah that's a good point. I'm still waiting for the OE exhaust mounting hardware to come in. It's been a few weeks :(

Anyone got any ideas of how I can makeshift a rubber cushion to use to dampen vibrations on exhaust?

Check to make sure your exhaust isn't contacting the bike anywhere but at the anchor points.

You could go to an exhaust shop and get a hanger rubber and modify it for your needs...if you have metal on metal contact, that will cause a lot of vibration.

Guys I am so sad.

Someone stole it. I street parked it for half an hour like an idiot, came back - no bike. Someone threw it up in the back of their truck and just hauled it off.

I called all the police departments and wreckers - it didn't get towed. I'm going to talk to neighbors and businesses now to see if anyone has it on camera.

:(

+1
Prefer Dunlop over Michelin, esp in So Cal warm weather but ran out of money so Michelins for now. They do last MUCH longer

Yeah, had that happen to me, an FZ1. Really sorry to hear about this.
My theft was caught on camera but no plates on the Sierra. 2 guys, four minutes, no bike.
Gonna get another one??

Damn, that sucks...
My old boss had his GSXR taken right in front of his apartment window. Prayers your way that it turns up in one piece soon

What a kick in the junk........I hate thieves.....

Well...I'm in the market for a gen 2 project.
I've got a set of brand new fairings for it!

prefer ABS, doesn't need to be running - flexible budget. Gonna eBay some old hobbies to fund.

LMK :)

I can't believe after the work u did someone grabbed it that quick:redface:. Glad to see your going right back in for another busa. So was it at least covered by insurance? Keep us updated of you find anything out. Of all bikes to be picked up and thrown in a truck I can't believe they did it with a heavy busa:banghead:

My first 2011 Busa was stolen, literally right from under my nose. Even though I called the police while I could still see it going down the road and told them exactly where it was headed, it was never recovered. Thankfully I bought another one with my insurance claim. I feel your pain.

Need to wire the next one up "Mad Max" style so if someone takes it they get blown all over the road...

haha! I just bought a gps tracker for $70 I'm going to test on my CBR.

I bid on a 2020 in North Carolina and won but seller didn't accept because it didn't clear their minimums. Man I may just have to buy a working bike and wreck it so I have something to fix.
