Noob, 1st busa with an interesting project.

@kev504

at a bike, between 9 and 13 years old
and ONLY 5.6 k miles ?
that value i personally never would trust
and caused by that doubt (about the mileage)
for your safety i would :
  1. change fork oil incl. sealings (~3 hours)
  2. pull the entire swingarm and the shock´s "banana" to control the spacers and grease all bearings new (~5 hours)
if the spacer have feelable marks they and the respective bearings have to be replaced
the possible marks at the spacers you can "measure" with your thumb nail - a "ditch" of only 1/100 mm in the spacer you will feel it that way
  3. change the motor oil & filter
  4. check the valve clearances (~2 hours if all values are bigger than the middle of the tolerance said in the manual)

1. - 3. - remember please
all oils / greases are mineral based and by that they over age after 4 (max 5) years
and their lubricity is almost zero - especially in the fork the oil only has the same value as water
and in the bearings the oil is mixed with water - sometimes it looks a bit like vanilla cream - my experiances.

good luck for the resuscitation

From info I've gathered at untouched for a minimum of 3 years at the tow lot. I'll be inspecting and servicing bushings bearings etc as I go. Waiting on a fuel pump now. Original was not salvageable, sat with fuel in it too long. Ordered one off eBay, probably should have checked to see if one was available for purchase here 1st

It is a Gen 1 motor, Gen 1 airbox, gen 1 throttlebodies, and there is No ABS pump mounted on the frame under the tank.
As for the Mileage, that is the mileage from the gen 2 plus the time on the Gen 1 harness.

And since it was a total loss, with an insurance company, how are you going to get a title?

Its got the same looking air box and throttle bodies as my gen 2....

I checked the first few digits of the engine number and it corresponds to a gen 2 1340cc, is it possible gen2 motor but just didn't have the ABS option?
