Memorial Day Weekend - Plan was to head back up into the Trinity Alps in Northern California, then up and over the Oregon Border and into southern Oregon.
But this time, I'd be on the new Hayabusa which I have been working on last couple months to set up for sport-touring: What a sense of Joy to be back on this bike. My third Hayabusa.

Being that it's Memorial Day weekend, I took the group to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, found on a remote hilltop northeast of Redding along Gas Point Rd. You get that same feeling at a military Cemetery no matter who you are, no matter where you are. Maybe someday I will ask to be buried here too.

Forks of Salmon is a narrow one-land road high above a mountain canyon, we call the one-lane canyon portion the 'Bolivian Death Road' for the extreme drop-offs into the canyon. Straight down, single lane.

In previous years, I've led groups up to Crater Lake and through Cottage Grove (where the movie Animal House was shot), but it's a quick foray and we're soon headed back into California over Happy Camp Pass. Southern Oregon btw has some great riding regions.

A visit to 14139 ft Mount Shasta. Odd thing about Mt Shasta is there are no roads, a single one, Everitt Memorial Highway to Bunny Flat staging area I had to check out, but it only goes to 6950 feet, the peak is another 7000 ft higher.

When the dogwoods bloom, it's time for spring. I used to live at 4000 ft and had one of these in my yard. When it snowed on the dogwood blooms, that was the last snow of the season and spring is here.

I skipped Burney Falls, a massive waterfall where the water is shooting out of the rock face near Fall River Mills
and ride the only twisty road in the region, Cassell Fall River Rd.

I'm near the tiny ranching town of Taylorsville, and the mountains are gorgeous this time of year with all the snow.

The highlight of the ride season was to ride Mosquito Ridge.

Mosquito Ridge Rd heads up to French Meadows Reservoir, but you can connect via Eleven Pines Rd over to Wentworth Springs, then Ice House Rd. All super fun mountain roads
Plus I was joined by my buddy Matt on his Hayabusa. Matt has had Magna's VFRs, FZ1s.
He rode this bike back from Washington back to CA for me. Soon as he got back to CA, he went & bought his own Hayabusa.
Silver 09 rims are on with new Avon rubber plus Galfer Wave Rotors & the GSXR fender.
Looks really different without the black rims.

For all time we spend riding, there's just as much time kicking tires and hanging out. Always the best of times.

Hwy 4 Ebbetts Pass has a 20-mile section of one lane non-stop twisties over the top of the double summit. Super steep over a 20% grade in some portions.
