2022 Pashnit Touring on a Hayabusa

I'd been having good luck so far with the marine layer fog, but not always, in and out of fog banks, there are times when it's like riding through a car wash, but it's not raining. Soaking and cold.

Same spot without the fog.

Great pics Tim. Of all the times I’ve ridden hiway 1 from the ocean to Leggett I doubt I’ve stopped more than a couple times. It’s just one of those roads where I‘m looking towards the next corner and the next, and the next.

Oh, and unless my room is on fire there’s no frikkin way I’m getting up before dawn to ride the coast hiway.

Headed south along the ocean, I had to stop at the Sea Ranch Chapel. Built in the mid-1980s along Highway 1 in the midst of the Sea Ranch community, it’s open to the public 365 days and rarely anyone ever there. It’s interesting and well-worth a stop. Local artisans and craftsmen built the chapel, the benches inside, the stonework, the stain glass, even the doorknobs are interesting.

I rode past it for probably 10 years at least before I finally even noticed this Harry Potter shaped hat looking building set a bit off from the highway.

Look for the Sea Ranch Chapel if you're ever headed along Highway 1. Cool place

Quick stop at Fort Ross. I needed a shot of this Russian Windmill.

We need to stop by Fort Ross someday. Another cool place along the coast.

Interesting thing about this old Russian fort is Highway 1 used to go right through the middle of it. Crazy by today's standards.

The road flowed through the fort all the way into the 1970s

Original buildings have all been rebuilt, including a 1840s Russian chapel.

But across from the fort is Fort Ross Rd, another narrow goat trail up & over the Coast Range. More pre-ride homework for my planned backroads tour in November 2023.

More single lane roads through the Redwood Forest headed up into the range, climbing in elevation
